Just what we expect from Katie MacAlister!

I insist on reading my series' in order, and it's been at least a few months since I read a Dark Ones novel. I needed a light romance, so I went with the next in line. I immediately remembered why I love Katie MacAlister so much and regretted waiting so long between books. The romance isn't predictable, the action is intriguing, and of course, the sex is hot and plentiful.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wasn't overly pleased with the ending - but not in a bad way. It just forced me to start the next one - literally - in the middle of the night!

I'm only sorry that I'm reaching the end of the series... I hope she keeps writing these as fast as she can!

    Loved it!

I loved this book. The ending surprised me and its as if Katie Macalister wanted to keep you on the edge of your seat. She further compliments this book by giving you 'Crouching Vampire Hidden Fangs' the second book related to Pia Thompson the heroine the object a Dark Ones affection in both books. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm sure you will too.

    Annoying Pia and Emo Kristoff

I purchased this as an ebook because of all the high reviews. I want my money back! Pia is soooo annoying as well as all of the other characters that I just want to b*!*ch slap them. Ughh... What happened, Katie? Did the publisher push you to cut this story into two books? There is no happy ending. Just Kristoff with a hang-up for his dead girlfriend and a rejected Pia. If only I had known this is part of a two books for one couple deal, I could have saved my money and borrowed this from the library. Stupid me, I got suckered by the reviews.

    Good for a rainy day!

I love all of Katie MacAlister's books! This one was just as funny and charming as all of her other novels. I like how she uses more realistic characters for her protagonists. Pia is a very real woman, who has all of the insecurities that most women-excluding supermodels-have in today's society. I thought that she was easy to relate to, so this book was more real to me. Of course, the Dark Ones are hot! I loved both Alec and Kristoff, and I can't help but think who wouldn't want to be in Pia shoes with two sexy vampires after her? The ghosts are funny, something extra that I am glad MacAlister added in this book to make it more comedic. Either way, I would recommend this book to anyone who is in the mood for just a relaxing, non-thought provoking book. This is the perfect book for a rainy day or just to leave reality for a while!

    Cute little mystery.

Heavy on drama, light on the kick buttness. Good book for a change of the harsh in your face from Anita Blake or Rachael Morgan

Bored and turning Forty. Who would expect a ordinary trip to Iceland with a singles tour, could turn out to be exciting, mysterious, scary and really fun trip for Pia. What better way to meet a guy. But what Pia didn't expect in her hunt for Mr. Right was to meet Ghosts, two gorgeous Vampires and to find herself married to a Vampire. I enjoyed this wicked romp into the supernatural world of the Dark Ones. I highly recommend this trip.

    All American Girl Meets Vampires

Almost 40, Pia Thomason decides to do something drastic to live the life she wants, specifically a husband and family. So she¿s takes off on a singles¿ tour of romantic Europe. Three days into the tour and in Iceland, she¿s put up with hearing her friend Magda have enthusiastic sex every night with Raymond and the constant griping of sour, negative Denise when things get intensely interesting. After visiting a bookstore, she bumps into and helps a young lady, Anniki, pick up the books she dropped and asks for directions. Anniki is the next Zorya, or ¿reaper¿ who helps souls to Ostri. The vampire Council has sent 2 of their Dark Ones, Alec and Kristoff, to investigate the Brotherhood that is dedicated to destroying vampires. In trying to find justice for Anniki, whose murder Pia is a suspect, Pia finds in the adventure of a lifetime or end of a lifetime. This was another fun if a bit confusing read by Katie MacAlister, mistress of hilarity.

Not so sure about the Zen...but it was an easy read.

I've read many of Katie MacAlister's books. I've enjoyed many of them as well. This one didn't grab my attention as well as some of the others have but it was an easy read for a lazy day. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a simple mindless read.

    Page turner!!!

I have never read any of Katie MacAlister's books till I got "Zen and the Art of Vampires" for Christmas. I read it in just a few days. I wish there was a happier ending though. Pia seems to be such a good yet lonely person, I really hope she gets her happy ever after. I'll just have to wait till May 5th when "Crouching Vapire, Hidden Fang" comes out to see what happens to Pia, Kristoff, and Alec... I cant wait!!!

    Good Read

This is the very first book by Katie MacAlister that I've read and I found it to be rather entertaining. It was a fun read and I can't wait to see what happens with Pia and Kristoff in the next book "Crouching Vampire, Hidden Fang".

Zen and the Art of Vampires

Humpf! I've been a reader of Katie MacAlister's 'Dark Ones' series--a lighthearted take on vampires--since it began. These are some very sexy vamps, but they don't have most of the supernatural powers other writers have given to their vamps. They are pretty much a group of people like others, although extremely long-lived to be sure. Those without a soul are looking for their Beloved, the one woman who can return their soul to them...but most believe a Beloved is a lot like the tooth fairy or Santa Claus! MacAlister's books, of course, tell about finding Beloveds, and her latest "Zen and the Art of Vampires" was both fulfilling and frustrating in turn. The continuing story of the Dark Ones and their world is advanced, yet the main couple don't quite get their happy ever after...yet.

Pia is an overweight, almost forty year old who feels the need to do something drastic to find her dream of home and kids before it's too late. So she signs up for a 'romance tour' of Europe. When the tour hits Iceland, she's about fed up with the snarky, spiteful blonde who's one of her tour mates, so when the blonde dares her to approach two gorgeous hunks of Viking-sized maleness, she takes the dare...but chickens out and ducks into a book store where her life takes an unexpected, and at times unbelievable turn. Within forty-eight hours, she's slept with two men and is married to two men...and one of the men she's married to isn't one of the men she slept with! She's also found out about ghosts, vampires, and a deranged quasi-religious sect and the only ones who 'appear' to be on her side are the ghosts!

I like MacAlister's writing. I 'get' her humor and there's a lot of it in here. I also like the fact that her Dark Ones don't have miraculous powers (for the most part) and instead must rely on their extensive lives for the knowledge and wit to come out on top. (Pun fully intended there) My only beef is that now I'll have to wait to get the rest of Pia's story :(

The latest Dark One screwball vampire romantic suspense comedy is a jocular action-packed tale.

As her fortieth birthday approaches Pia Thomason decides to celebrate with a tour of Europe hoping to find a lover¿s fling across the pond. Her first stop is Iceland, but for whatever reason people calls her Zorya. Even more mysterious Pia ends up in possession of a light-producing moonstone.

Bewildered Pia finds things turn even stranger when an enigmatic group of weirdoes the Brotherhood of the Blessed Light demand she marry their Sacristan. At the same time ghosts begin to show up claiming she the guiding reaper expected to escort them to the promised land of Ostri. Wondering what else could occur on this trip that makes no sense, the Dark One Kristoff needs Pia to help him enact vengeance on the Brotherhood at the same time he wants to insure she never obtains her full power, which means he must marry her.

The latest Dark One screwball vampire romantic suspense comedy is a jocular action-packed tale. As always in this wonderful zany series, the heroine gets trapped in an out of control frenzied frolic once Kristoff meets Pia. Readers will enjoy this latest biting romp as the escapades never slow down. Katie MacAlister provides some of the zaniest paranormal tales with her Dark Ones¿ saga (see EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES; SEX, LIES, AND VAMPIRES; SEX AND THE SINGLE VAMPIRE; and THE LAST OF THE RED HOT VAMPIRES).
