    Relaxing and great for Beginners

This brush painting set is so nice to have sometimes. I'm surprised by some of the things I created myself. The quotes and pictures are beautiful and really make you think. To be honest, I was a little suspicious of whether or not it would really work, but after doing it for a little while, I found myself relaxing as I painted. It was so nice to see everything disappear from the paper, like all my troubles disappeared with it. The Zen set is perfect for beginners and makes a great gift. I'd definitely recommend it! My only negative would be that the frame and cardboard feels a little fragile as if a little too much water would ruin it (not that I've had that problem).

You too, can paint with Zen

I have always wanted to paint in the Chinese style but was afraid to start. Well, no longer! I gave several this Christmas.

    Great gift, great lesson

My husband gave me Zen by the Brush and now I am buying five more for friends. What a great life lesson and what a wonderful stress reliever watching my paintings slowly fade from the special board that comes in this kit. I am a professional artist and now either start or end painting sessions by using this kit.

    I Also Recommend:

    Small but a good start

The board itself is a bit small and flimsy, but considering the cost of just the boards and the fact you get a book it's expcted. The book had little in the line of explanation but it seems there isn't much to say on the subject of Zen water painting, and if you like find a book on it and see if there is much more to say; then buy a buddha board. There are some great sayings and quotes on meditation and Zen poems and Koans with simple yet well thought out examples of water paints.
I do wish the brush was of a bit higher quality and the book bound a tad better. The box it came in wasn't much to brag about but frankly I usually throw those away anyway. it's a package. I've noticed people complain about the box these kits come in but leave the cheap packaging of Mcdonalds alone. Just saying it seems a silly gripe.
I say take it as an introduction, I think of all these kit things as an inexpensive way to get a feel for something before you invest much more money and a lot more effort for something you may not like.
So taking all these ideas into account it was worth the $20 bucks and made me want to invest in something more and take up waterpainitng and even ink painting. Worst case scenerio you buy it, decide you don't like it but have at least tried something new for the same cost as say a movie with popcorn.
