If you're like me and don't have a lot of money, time, or space for a zen garden this kit is perfect. It comes with everything you need to create your very own mini zen garden. The book alone should be worth double the amount of the whole kit! It's simply amazing! The pictures in this book are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. There are photos of different kinds of existing zen gardens that are so inspiring. The book goes into depth on explaining the history of zen gardens and the design and vision of them. It's astounding. The zen garden itself is quality and just the right size. The sand is light and delicate enough for the most intricate patterns, and it comes with three small stones and a ceramic bridge ornament--just enough to decorate your garden without cluttering it. And unlike other kits, this one will actually teach you different ways to rake the garden and get the look you want.
I have been searching for a mini Zen Garden for awhile, just something to hold me over till I can build my own, and this is the best I have come across. Most places charge you to much for the garden and are far to small. This is a good size, maybe four squre inches or so, and comes with a wonderful 128 page book from David Holzer. The book does a great job of explaining the history of Zen and Buddhism and touches on almost all aspects of the gardens themselves. This is an excellent buy if you are looking for something simple and are just begining your path to enlightenment.
