About the Author
Raymond Reed Hardy is an Associate Professor of Psychology at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. He first became interested in various meditation practices in 1969 after seeing a TV news broadcast of a Buddhist monk self-immolating on the stairs of the capitol building in Saigon, South Viet Nam.
How any human being could have done this became a nagging question that gradually resolved into an abiding interest in Buddhism and its related transcendental meditation practices.

Hardy has been practicing daily zazen since 1978, when he offered his first Meditation and Consciousness course.
