Drawing on interviews with more than two hundred Zimbabweans, collected over three years, Gallagher explores how citizens draw on emotional responses to the international to find and construct different 'others'. Julia Gallagher is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway, University of London. She is the author of Britain and Africa under Blair: In Pursuit of the Good State (2011), editor of Images of Africa: Creation, Negotiation and Subversion (2015), and co-author of Why Mugabe Won: The 2013 Elections in Zimbabwe and their Aftermath (Cambridge, 2017).
