Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“Lennard Zinn’s book is packed with in-depth explanations and useful diagrams.” — VeloNews magazine

“Lennard Zinn is an institution in the bicycle world—a legend. Legions of cyclists have learned to repair bikes from him, ridden bicycles he’s built, or used his advice as guidance on how to better enjoy the world on two wheels.” — Bicycle Times magazine

“Lennard Zinn is a veritable cycling Einstein, and as a naturally gifted teacher he has the unique ability to explain even the most difficult mechanical task. So unless you currently ride on a high-profile pro team with your own mechanic (and maybe even then), Zinn & the Art of Road Bike Maintenance is an absolute ‘must-have’ book.” — Davis Phinney, Olympic medalist, U.S. Pro champion, and Tour de France stage winner

"There really is no other bicycle repair manual like this. Zinn & the Art of Road Bike Maintenance is very up-to-date, very clear—thanks to the profuse illustrations—and accurate and comprehensive. This book essentially takes the place of a collection of several other books, component manufacturer’s assembly sheets, and the collective wisdom of years of hands on bicycle maintenance. And it’s all in a very enjoyable format intended to be encouraging and confidence-building." — USCyclingReport.com

Zinn & the Art of Road Bike Maintenance has instructions on anything an aspiring wrench would want to know. What impresses most is Lennard’s overall approach of simplifying a task and reminding us how rewarding it is to perform our own service.” — PodiumCafe.com

“If ever there was a classic text on bike maintenance, this has to be it. The joy of this third edition, like its predecessors, is that it goes from super simple right through to complete re-builds. All are explained by a combination of Zinn’s unique humour-filled, insightful and clear text, with Todd Telander’s brilliant illustrations.” — 220Triathlon.com

Library Journal
Today's bicycles are complicated machines that can be expensive to maintain and repair. Zinn (The Mountain Bike Owner's Manual) has written this book to help both the leisure bike rider and expert mechanic handle almost any problem associated with road bikes. In an effort to appeal to people of varying mechanical abilities, the book separates bicycle repair procedures into three levels, depending on difficulty. Level one is reserved for novices, while levels two and three are for more mechanically savvy bike owners. Each chapter covers a certain bicycle component and includes the tools needed to repair that particular part. Zinn also includes troubleshooting guides at the conclusion of each chapter and, for those interested only in general maintenance, a chapter that covers the basics of keeping a bike road-worthy. Whether someone is experienced at repairing bicycles or is just a weekend rider, this book includes everything to keep bikes rolling. Recommended for all public libraries.--Patrick Mahoney, Off-Campus Lib. Svcs., Central Michigan Univ., Mount Pleasant Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.\

Great bicycle repair manual for everyone.

I love working on my bicycle and this book has everything I could have asked for and then some. It is written very well and the illustrations are right on the money.
I feel everyone should have a bicycle repair manual in their home and this book is it.It is very easy to understand and to follow along.

Best book on bike maintainance, period!

This is the book to have along whether you're just starting out as a mechanic or as a reference for a seasoned wrench.

    Highly Recommend for Cyclists!

I find that this book is great for every cyclist to have. It's a great tool in understanding your bicycle. I just started cycling in April and I have found this to be very useful in helping my understand the basics and how to explain to my bike tech what the problems are.

As good as it gets...for me.

"Wrenching" doesn't come naturally to me. I'd rather be riding. I'll still leave the major overhauls to the professionals with the expensive tools, but books like this are helpful for minor adjustments, lubrication and general understanding of how a bicycle works. It's not really that complicated of a vehicle compared to a car that needs to be hooked up to a computer to be diagnosed.

This is a fine and useful book if you take the time to consult it. Well written and organized with helpful pictures. The lack of the fifth star in the rating says more about me than the book.
