Because of that stellar pitch, Hank has been chosen to pitch for P.S. 87 for the Big Game. The pressure is on--Hank's got to wear those socks again, or risk blowing the biggest ball game of his life. The only problem is, Emily wants to wear the lucky monkey socks herself since she's competing in the Brain Buster for the Olympiad. Will Hank be able to pull off another Zippity Zinger--or will he strike out?

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Poor Hank! He's sure he can't do anything right: Pitch a baseball. Do multiplication problems (unless the problems involve 2's, 5's, and 10's). Keep facts he has read in his mind. Plus he's got a super smart little sister, which makes things that much worse. But then he discovers his sister's lucky red-and-pink monkey socks. Hank wears them to school (camouflaged under a pair of white socks) and gets a B- on his social studies exam. Amazing! Then, while wearing the socks he discovers he has a zippity zinger of a baseball pitch. Before he knows what's happened, Hank is the Yellow team's secret weapon for the Olympiad baseball tournament. He needs those socks, but there is a problem. His sister needs them too and she is not willing to share. Now Hank has a decision to make. Does he really want to sit on the sidelines for his whole life or does he want to get in the game? Another funny and satisfying tale in the "Hank Zipzer: The World's Greatest Underachiever" series. 2006, Penguin, , and Ages 8 to 12.
