As the clothes pile up and Mama tells her it's time to go, there's only one way Zoe can be sure she's prepared for all the adventures ahead -- a solution that will have parents laughing in recognition and kids nodding in satisfaction. Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
“On school days, soccer days, and rainy days, someone else always decides what Zoe will wear,” writes Murguia. Ah, but today is Saturday, and Zoe gets to decide—which will also determine the kind of day she’s going to have. Murguia (Buglette, the Messy Sleeper) is right that autonomy, when granted only occasionally, brings with it a dizzying sense of potential. And her spare cartooning is hard to resist—Zoe has only dots for eyes and a mouth, but readers will know that within that oversize head (crowned by two pigtails) there’s an outsize imagination and thirst for adventure. Unfortunately, the book ends up a catalogue of not-too-exciting possibilities, expressed in cutesy language that seems out of step with the spirited, creative heroine. Her options include “a pocket day,” during which she stuffs her hoodie with treasures like flowers and frogs, and a “twirling day, a dizzy, whirling day,” made possible by a purple circle skirt. Her final decision, a kind of sartorial smorgasbord, conjures up unfair comparisons to another independent-minded young lady: Fancy Nancy. Ages 3–5. Agent: Mary Kole, Andrea Brown Literary Agency. Children's Literature - Vicki Coleman
Zoe is a little girl who is usually told what she needs to wear for all of her different activities such as school, soccer, etc., but today is Saturday and it's her turn to choose. Zoe goes through all the things she could do and all the different types of clothes and accessories she could wear, but this little girl has a hard time making a decision regarding what she should wear. After trying on several outfits with accessories; her mom questions her about the mess she was probably making, and reminds her that it is time to go so Zoe needs to hurry and make a final decision about her outfit. The illustrations, executed in pen-and-ink and watercolor, really add to the story. They capture Zoe's personality, the outfits she is considering, the activities she could possibly have ahead of her this day, and the difficulty Zoe faces in selecting the appropriate outfit. This is a cute fun book for young children to have read to them or for beginning readers to read themselves. Reviewer: Vicki Coleman

PreS-K—Zoe, a young fashionista, has a style that shines, especially on Saturday when there's no school, no rain, no soccer, and no one else to decide what she will wear. On that day, the child's choices are many. It could be a pocket day for collecting treasures, a twirling day, a cartwheel day, a blend-in or stand-out day, or a touch-the-sky day. Young readers will appreciate Zoe's ultimate choice—she dons something suitable for all of these activities. Parents will smile with total understanding at the off-page adult comments. Pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations capture Zoe's fanciful attire and the coordinating activities. The cartoon simplicity matches the light text and gentle humor, and sparkles on the cover accent the many outfits with great pizzazz. Add this one to the growing list of fun stories for young ladies with style.—Carolyn Janssen, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, OH

    Great book

I bought this book for my grand-daughter, Zoe, who is also a redhead. Seems like the book was written just for her. Very cute story and drawings are cute.
