Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Elizabeth Fronk
Kristy Tate and Rachel Walker notice many skaters and skateboarders having difficulty at the park. These troubles show the girls that their friend, Zoe, the Skating Fairy is missing her magic lace. This lace allows everyone to have a fun and safe time with sports. They also know that Jack Frost has ordered his goblins to steal these magic objects in order to win the Fairy Olympics. So begins this second adventure in the Sports Fairies series. Kristy and Rachel see the goblins using Zoe's lace as a baton in a relay and must devise a plan to take the lace back. They need Zoe's magic in order to foil the goblins' practice; Zoe helps the girls become small like fairies and disguise them in order to take the lace from the goblins. This beginning chapter book may appeal to athletic young female elementary readers that wish for something beyond the "Junie B. Jones" series. Kristy and Rachel are appealing if a bit old-fashioned; however, young girl athletes may identify with the girls' acceptance of the fairies and enjoy the setting. Part of the "Rainbow Magic: Sports Fairies" series. Reviewer: Elizabeth Fronk
