Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
This cross between a book of doodles and a coloring book may inspire creativity in some children. Others may find the black-and-white designs completely crazy. The introduction says: "Color can instantly transport you to a faraway place or lead you deep within your imagination." A child can use colored pencils, felt-tip markers, crayons, or pastels to draw on or color the pages. There is a page with nothing but wavy lines and half a page with wide black-and-white lines converging at a spot in the center with the other half page with ordinary black lines converging in the same spot. Another page has the outline of a twig, another white ears and target eyes, one page has white shapes of octopi and other sea creatures, and another has starfish. Weird shapes with fine or heavy lines completely fill some pages. Artists will have fun. Unimaginative types may feel non-plussed. Much of the child's perception of this book may hinge on the way that it is presented. Reviewer: Carlee Hallman
