Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Zombie Butts from Uranus! by Andy Griffiths, the sequel to The Day My Butt Went Psycho!, delivers innumerable gag-worthy gags, nearly all involving the words "butt" and "Uranus." Zach Freeman and his band of butt-fighters must stop the invasion of ruthless alien rumps. Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
Anyone who picks up this book and recognizes it as a sequel to The Day My Butt Went Psycho should not be surprised when they encounter tasteless humor, offensive language and juvenile situations. From the title, to the table of contents which lists chapters like "Buttmergency" and "The Smoking Butt," to the "publishers" warning that anyone over eighteen will be "totally grossed out," this book does not try to hide its content. It does not masquerade as great literature, and it even pokes fun at itself by instructing adults to put the book down and instead read a book about why children insist on reading books like this one when more meaningful literature is available. No, if you are an adult, you should not be surprised that this book does not appeal to you. The story itself joins Zack Freeman in a new quest against, you guessed it, zombie butts from Uranus. The plot is a regular good and evil story in which Zack, and his talking butt, must battle the forces of evil to make the world safe for humanity. The plot may be conventional, but the details of the battle (you'll have to use your imagination here) break new ground for offensive warfare. Suffice to say, middle grade and pre-adolescent boys may find the content of this book uproarious. For the rest of us, though, the humor will elude us and we really will end up asking ourselves if children shouldn't be reading something more meaningful. 2003, Scholastic, Ages 8 to 12.
