Editorial Reviews

Craig DiLouie Author
"Working as both straight-up survival fiction and comedy, Mark Tufo's FALLOUT is the gory, laugh-out-loud tale of a community of heroes, cowards and misfits struggling to hold out against the zombie hordes. Tufo's unlikely hero is one of the funniest and most endearing characters I've seen in zombie fiction, and had me rooting for him every step of the way." - Craig DiLouie, author of TOOTH AND NAIL and THE INFECTION
Granite Granite
I have read most zombie novels available on Amazon and not since Day By Day Armageddon have I enjoyed a zombie book as much as Zombie Fallout. If you liked Day By Day you will like this one to. This author followed the traditional notions of a zombie but has thrown in a few twists along the way which I felt really increased the tension. I loved this book from start to finish and look forward to the sequel.

Excellent Book for Lovers of Zombie Fiction

Mark Tufo has written an awesome book for all lovers of zombie fiction. This book has it all and more. Zombies, gore, terror, hysterical humor, and above all very real characters. The story grabs your attention from the first page and does not let you go even at the end because it makes you want to start on the second book immediately. The humor is very well placed throughout the book. It is funny and it is a very real way that many people deal with catastrophies in their lives. Again, I highly recommend this book and have already purchased the rest of the books in this series. Hopefully the author will continue this series and maybe start a new series of excellent zombie fiction. Hint, hint Mr. Tufo. Zombie fiction lovers will patiently be watching a waiting. Keep writing. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I Also Recommend:

    OMG!!!! AWSOME BOOK.

MARK TUFO IS A GREAT AUTHOR. I PUT HIM UP THERE WITH J.L. BOURNE AS FAR AS ZOMBIE NOVELS. I DONT LIKE TRYING NEW AUTHORS, BUT I READ THE REVIEWS ON THIS BOOK, TRIED THE SAMPLE AND WOW!!! AWSOME BOOK. ALOT OF DRAMA, EXCITEMENT, AND HIS MAIN CHARACTOR IS CONSTANTLY HAVING SIDE THOUGHTS AND THINKS HE IS GOING NUTTY. VERY FUNNY CONSIDERING THE DEAD ARE WALKING AROUND....AS IF ANYTHING COULD BE FUNNY ABOUT THAT? RIGHT? THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ZOMBIE FANS. HE LEAVES NOTHING TO QUESTION DURING THE TREK THROUGH THE DEAD WORLD. I KNOW ALMOST EVERYTHING ABOUT ZOMBIES AS IF THEY HAVE EVER EVEN EXISTED...RIGHT? A FEW TIMES I THOUGHT I CAUGHT HIM WITH A MESS UP IN THIS CLOSELY STUDIED FIELD, AND THEN BOOM HE COVERED IT AND IT MADE SENSE. I WILL READ THIS ONE A FEW MORE TIMES WITHOUT A DOUBT! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET THIS BOOK! 5 STARS IS A DISCREDIT TO MARK TUFO AND ZOMBIE FALLOUT, BUT THATS THE HIGHEST I COULD GIVE....

Pretty great read... for a guy.

I really enjoyed this book. Its adventurous and humorous and has just the right amount of zombies. The male characters in the book are written fantastic... however, I wonder if this author thinks women are shallow, worthless people. None of the women in this book are strong, well written characters..... they cant shoot a gun (someone didnt do their research on which gender is more likely to hit their target), they hide instead of fight, and they do a lot of screaming and crying. SMH. I hope as I read more of these books the author grows as a person and learns that women are capable humans...... and not just on an occasional off-beat moment where they are brave for a couple seconds.

    more from this reviewer

    love, love, love it

I highly recommend this book and the series that follows. Mark Tufo, like Jim Butcher, makes an incredibly fast paced, exciting book with characters that you will fall-in-love with. Michael Talbot is crazy, frustrating, funny, and just the guy I would want on my zombie apocolypse team. Oh, a small shout out for Henry!

    Wow...what a fun read!!!

I love Mark Tufo's sense of humor and turn-of-phrase. I found myself laughing out loud at times. But don't get the idea that this is humor--the over-arching story is definitely a grim tale of post-apocalyptic horror. What a blend of the genres!!!

The second book in the series was also pretty good, but it seemed like he was forcing the humor a bit.

    Absolutely amazing read

I'm not a diehard reader, but this is one book I could not put down. I lose interest in books pretty easily if they don't spark any interest in me, but this is definately a book that kept me going all the way to the end. Purchased the rest of Mark's Zombie Fallout series upon the completion of book one and can't wait to read the rest!

Just finished this and already downloaded the rest of the series

This guy knows how to write! The story is addictive as is his writing style. I love how he so easily the story flows and never bogs down. Thanks for producing such a great line of books. I look forward to the rest of the series.

    From The Aussie Zombie

I first read Zombie Fallout in July 2011 and then went on to read Zombie Fallout 2 and 3, all one after the other. The Zombie Fallout Series made it into almost all of my top 2011 lists and still remains one of my most recommended zombie books. I’m not the biggest re-reader – I’m always a little scared that I won’t enjoy the book as much the second time around – but I’m so glad I went back to this one, and I will re-read the rest of the series before moving onto Zombie Fallout 4.

Zombie Fallout is the story of the Talbot family, and their survival through the first weeks of the zombapocalyse, when a government flu vaccination program goes catastrophically wrong. Mike and Tracy Talbot gather together their children and join other survivors in their housing estate, Little Turtle to try and evade the zombie hordes.

Written in the first person POV of Mike Talbot in journal-style, there are also third person entries from other main characters such as Mike’s wife Tracy and daughter Nicole, and his sons Travis and Justin.

Mike Talbot is a fantastic main character, an ex-Marine/Human Resources Executive/Road Worker and survivalist with a die-hard dedication to his family and friends and a wickedly sarcastic sense of humor – he could have been the ultimate zombie book cliché, but is definitely not. The other main characters and supporting characters are well-developed and their interactions are believable and a great mix of laughs, tension and emotion. The bad guys are ultra-creepy and the good guys are imperfect in a way that made me like them all the more.

Zombie Fallout has a perfect mix of tension-building and action, with a great big wallop of snarky, sarcastic, humor - exactly the kind of book I love – great characters and dialogue, good writing and a pee-your-pants-scary Zombie Queen thrown in for good measure.

It’s hard to say more without giving the story away, particularly as I know how it progresses through the next two books, but Zombie Fallout remains exactly what it was the first time I read it – one of my favourite Zombie books/series and one of my most highly recommended books to both zombie enthusiasts and readers who are looking for their first ‘proper’ zombie book.

    Great!

I love all things zomebies, it's just difficult finding something that's not the same rehashed story. Mark Tufo has brought a new spin on the same old tale, with probably one of my favorite characters narrating the story.
Zomebie Fallout had me laughing right out the gate as Mike Talbot learned of the rise of the dead. The story provides plenty of scares, vivid descriptions, and characters that you really hope can survive.
I likes the first one so much that I quickly read the rest of the series. I hope Mr. Tufo keeps them coming as each one proves to be better than the last.

    Scary funny

I am a HUGE zombie apocalypse fan and this definitely did not disappoint. It had a great combination of humor and horror. I liked the whole intelligent/thinking kind of zombies. It adds a little scarier dimension to these already creepy creatures. I enjoyed the sarcastic tone of the characters and it was easy to like them. Overall a great read. Highly recommend.
