When rural Ohio college professor Peter Mellor dies in an automobile accident during a zombie outbreak, he is reborn as a highly intelligent (yet somewhat amnesiac) member of the living dead. With society crumbling around him and violence escalating into daily life, Peter quickly learns that being a zombie isn’t all fun and brains. Humans—unsympathetic, generally, to his new proclivities—try to kill him at nearly every opportunity. His old friends are loath to associate with him. And he finds himself inconveniently addicted to the gooey stuff inside of people’s heads.
As if all this weren’t bad enough, Peter soon learns that his automobile accident was no accident at all. Faced with the harrowing mystery of his death, Peter resolves to use his strange zombie “afterlife” to solve his own murder.
Skillfully combining the genres of horror, humor, and film noir, Zombie, Ohio weaves an enthralling and innovative tale that any fan of the current zombie craze is sure to relish. Followers of detective and horror fiction alike will find something to love about Zombie, Ohio—a tale of murder, mystery, and the walking dead.

I was really skeptical about this book at first. I really didn't think having a zombie be the main character, but I've been proved wrong.

I moved to Ohio a few years ago and I enjoyed reading about an area I am becoming familiar with. As far as the reading was concerned, quick and easy! The author did not waste much time setting everything up. From the very start, I felt as if I was the main character not just a tag along. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a zombie tale that is a little different in perspective...

Not an ordinary Zombie tale.

The narrator has a great play with words and fun dialogue, that shouldn't bore any zombie fans! I especially like the fact that Kenemore doesn't name chapters throughout the book.

I loved this book. It was an interesting, well written book with good characters and an engaging plot. The story is told from the point of view of a somehow still sentient zombie (don't worry-that's the first page or two of the story, not a spoiler!). I just wish the story was a bit longer. I definitely recommend this book, even if you're not big on zombie books.

This book was a little bit of oddball fun. The story told from the point of view of a zombie is completely unique and enjoyable.

Pros:
- Unique take on the Zombie genre
- Clever dialogue
- Entertaining
- Good story
Cons:
- Profanity (others will not mind it so this is mostly personal preference)
- First two-thirds of the book is a bit slow
My Take:
I didn't purchase this book initially, opting instead to read the sample I downloaded to my nook. Within roughly 10 pages, I was hooked. I was immediately drawn in by the main character's, Peter Mellor, mysterious awakening at the side of his totalled car. There are clues he is undead and soon he discovers what the reader already knows: he is a Zombie. You then follow him waiting to see how his friends and girlfriend will react when they find out he is a moving cadaver. The first "chapter" (there are three long chapters in the book not including the epilogue) did a good job in drawing me in to the story and the characters were introduced well. The second chapter is the hardest of the three to read, mainly because, as another reviewer put it, Kenemore writes about Peter "Zombie" Mellor going somewhere to do this thing then going somewhere else to do that thing. Personally, I still enjoyed the second chapter. I found the character, as well as the idea of a talking "intelligent" zombie, interesting and found Kenemore to be particularly skilled at clever one-way dialogue as evidenced in the humerous quasi conversations Zombie Mellor has with other zombies who are not the self aware thinking kind he is, very funny stuff. Then there is chapter three. Anything the second chapter lacks in action and plot, the third chapter make up for.
As mentioned previously, there are three l-o-n-g chapters (that to me almost seem like separate mini-books). All in all, a very good read though. I can see myself reading it again, eventually. If you don't mind taking the scenic route, you'll enjoy this book too.

Not even halfway through and I'm over it. Just a bit too 'so this happened, so then I did this...which makes me think of this random reference, and moving on'. Just a bit too black and white and no developing story...drags on. Its probably worth less than the 5 bucks I paid. There are better zombie books out there.

I loved this! Told from the Zombie's perspective - very unique! It was funny and at times I found myself rooting for the zombies! :)
This is a great read, I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more books by this author.
There are some gory, gross scenes, but I can't imagine a zombie book without some of that.
