Only The Best In This Undead Collection

There are a lot of zombie fiction anthologies out there and more are on the way. If you're unfamiliar with some of the seminal authors and stories over the past 20 years I highly recommend this collection. John Skipp helped energize the horror genre in the 1980s and '90s and he was collecting high-quality zombie literature long before the current craze. Do yourself a favor and buy this book.

Truly a must for avid readers' collections

This collection of stories is a great introduction into how and why zombies ever got popular in the first place, and covers a quite long timeline for the age of the stories and the scope of what actually can be called a 'zombie'. The short but sweet introductions are actually quite helpful for people who have never heard of the stories, but for a real surprise skip them before reading the individual stories. It's also great to have when you or someone you know only has short windows of time for reading since there are very few book-length stories in it, although once I got started I plowed through quite a few stories in a sitting. Be aware there are a scant few pictures to go along with any of the stories so someone looking for a visual collection will be disappointed but otherwise I'd recommend this to anyone with a love of good horror and supernatural storytelling. It's a bit big and intimidating at first but by the time you get through it you'll just wish there was more; hopefully the editor/author will put together a sequel?? I hope so, and definitely keep this one in mind as a gift for someone especially someone who might not go out and get it for themselves or if people think it's of low quality, people will be pleasantly suprised!

    I Also Recommend:

    Excellent collection

I have to admit I LOVE zombies. I mean I'm infatuated with them. I'll read almost anything with zombies in it and watch any movie about zombies. I've read the best (World War Z, Day by Day Armageddon) and the worst. This collection of short stories is fantastic. It really allows the reader to get a wide variety of stories dealing with zombies from different writing styles. This is one of the best collections I have read.

    I Also Recommend:

    Gross but Good

After enjoying World War Z, I thought I'd see what else is out there. This collection is fantastic, though I occasionally found myself flinching. Some of the stories are just insanely gross and violent. However, I did love the Max Brooks, S.G. Browne, Robert Bloch and Steve Duffy stories.
