Dafür gibt es zwei Gründe: Zum einen wäre die historische Aufarbeitung der Unternehmensgeschichte von ehemaligen DDR-Betrieben und ihre Entwicklung nach der Wende sicher ein interessantes gesondertes Thema für eine Buchveröffentlichung. Dies ist jedoch nicht vordergründiges Anliegen dieses Buches. Zum anderen ist gerade jede Insolvenz auch ein deutlicher Schnitt in der Geschichte eines Unternehmens. Geschäftsführer und andere wichtige handelnde Personen, die das Geschehen über Jahre bestimmt haben, sind plötzlich nicht mehr präsent. Andere waren erreichbar, wollten sich aber aus persönlichen Gründen nicht zu ihrer Vergangenheit oder zur Vergangenheit ihres Unternehmens äußern. Dieses Buch befasst sich im Kern mit der Situation der ausgewählten Unternehmen in der Insolvenzphase. Im Focus der Betrachtungen steht zunächst eine Analyse der Insolvenz-Ursachen und der Ausgangssituation, die die Insolvenzverwalter in den Betrieben vorgefunden haben. Dabei konnte sich der Verfasser auf außerordentlich aussagekräftige Informationen stützen, die die Insolvenzverwalter selbst in ihren Gutachten in der Phase der vorläufigen Insolvenz vorgelegt hatten, um so die Insolvenzeröffnung zu beantragen und die Fortführung der Unternehme auf belastbare Füße zu stellen. So werden die Voraussetzungen und Argumente für eine erfolgreiche Weiterführung der Unternehmen in konzentrierter Form dargestellt.
