A Thousand Splendid Suns
by Khaled Hosseini
From our editors: "Khaled Hosseini's follow-up to The Kite Runner does not disappoint. Set like its predecessor in war-torn Afghanistan, A Thousand Splendid Suns uses that tumultuous backdrop to render the heroic plight of two women of different generations married to the same savagely abusive male.... Truly must-read fiction."

Advice for the Aspiring

In our exclusive interview, we asked Hosseini what tips or advice he has for aspiring authors. His reply: "I would give them the oldest advice in the craft: Read and write. Read a lot. Read new authors and established ones, read people whose work is in the same vein as yours and those whose genre is totally different. You've heard of chain-smokers. Writers, especially beginners, need to be chain-readers. And lastly, write every day. Write about things that get under your skin and keep you up at night."

The Kite Runner
by Khaled Hosseini
Hosseini's stirring first novel tells the poignant tale of two orphaned boys coming of age in Kabul -- a city teetering on the brink of destruction at the dawn of the Soviet invasion. "Hosseini's depiction of the cruelty children suffer at the hands of their 'friends' will break your heart. And his descriptions of Afghanistan both before and after the war will haunt readers long after they've read the last page," say our editors.
