The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar
by Robert Alexander
In his groundbreaking novel, Alexander re-tells the story of two of history's bloodiest events -- the Bolshevik Revolution and the Romanov massacre -- in a fascinating, tightly-plotted chronicle of a family in danger as seen through the eyes of a compelling witness.

"To me this is a 'what if' book," the author reveals on his web site. "What if the last living witness of the Romanov murders were not only alive and well, but living in Chicago? Starting with this premise, what I’ve tried to do is not only write a fictional eyewitness account of the murders of Nicholas and Alexandra, but write a novel that uses fiction to solve the mysteries the facts have left forever inexplicable."

Good to Know

In our exclusive interview with Alexander, we asked him to give us some fun facts about himself. He responds: "Most of my friends know: I’m much too outgoing to be living in quarantine, as I do (as any writer does). Most of my friends don’t know: I can ride a unicycle, I can’t balance my checkbook, I broke my back going over a ski jump, and I was once enrolled in Meats 104 and Beverage 111 at a prominent School of Hotel and Restaurants, which prompted me to drop out and start my first novel.”
