| McMillan recently filed for divorce from Jonathan Plummer, the younger man she met while on vacation in Jamaica (and the basis for the book How Stella Got Her Groove Back) after learning he was gay. The discovery led McMillan to conclude that Plummer married her with the intent to secure his U.S. citizenship. "It was devastating to discover that a relationship I had publicized to the world as life-affirming and built on mutual love was actually based on deceit," she explained in court papers. "I was humiliated."
