Suzanne Collins is best known as the author of The Hunger Games, a dystopian YA book series that has also been developed into popular films. After working on several children's TV shows on Nickelodeon, Collins felt inspired to write children's books herself. Her career as a novelist was set in motion with a five book children's series, The Underland Chronicles, then she went on to write The Hunger Games. The first book in the The Hunger Games series was originally released in 2008, followed consecutively by Catching Fire and Mockingjay in 2009 and 2010.
