This book is unique in format and structure. It doesn't read like a novel, a biography or a romance. It isn't a factual book, either. It is refreshing, I think, because the stories read like a personal journal and the story is often being told by the animals themselves. Some stories are told by me, while others include the entire family. Each chapter is a story of its own, yet when all of the stories are put together, it becomes clear we were truly blessed by the presence of all these creatures.
The stories combine various styles, including my descriptions and experiences, actual communication by the animals, communication through spirit guides and references or quotations from other material. Some of the stories include details of therapies and treatments we used with the animals and may read more like a journal than a story, others are tearful but with deep meaning and connection.
In reality, the animals are the authors; I am merely the means for them to speak. They have a message to share, and when they find someone willing to listen and communicate, the animals come, ready to be heard. These stories have a very special meaning to me and my family, and I hope that you will be drawn into the stories and the journey with us.
