For nearly thirty years, we’ve been sharing our love of wonderful stories with our youngest readers…and we’ve reached an incredible milestone: Our Millionth Storytime is here! So head to your local Barnes & Noble on both Saturday and Sunday at 11am during the weekend of September 7th and 8th for a two-part event to commemorate this exciting occasion! Imagine how many grins, how many giggles, and how many fun memories have been created during one million Storytimes!
On Saturday, September 7th we’ll be reading Dr. Seuss’s Horse Museum, a never before published work from a legendary children’s author that explores art, creativity, and perspective. As young readers visit a fantastical museum with a horse as their guide, they’re encouraged to examine artwork by a host of influential artists, from Calder to Picasso. They’ll consider the ways in which different artists can depict the same thing in very different ways. This playful book features cameos from some of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including the Cat in the Hat, and Horton the Elephant! There’ll be a fun horse standee for photo ops, along with mini sketchpads and crayon packs, and the opportunity to get a free book, while supplies last.
Sunday, September 8th is Grandparents Day, and to celebrate, we’ll be reading Paul McCartney’s Hey Grandude! This rollicking tale introduces a fun-loving grandfather who takes his four grandchildren on exciting adventures that span the globe. From dodging avalanches, to riding flying fish, this story takes readers on a delightful romp filled with illustrations that children will love exploring. The whole family is welcome to attend this Storytime, which encourages a celebration of the bonds between generations. There will be a postcard activity sheet and stickers, and the opportunity to get a free book, while supplies last.
In addition, Barnes & Noble Cafés will offer a free tall, hot or iced coffee plus café sampling on Saturday and $1.50 confetti cupcakes with any café purchase on Sunday.
Don’t miss this fun event and come help B&N celebrate our Millionth Storytime!
