B&N Bestsellers in Science Fiction & Fantasy: October 2019

This month in SFF, comics, and manga bestseller news at Barnes & Noble: Nothing propels readers into the bookstore quite like a long-awaited fantasy epic. It’s true of George R.R. Martin and it certainly held true last month for the much-anticipated release of The Burning White, the final book on Brent Week’s Lightbringer saga. It topped our list of new hardcover bestsellers for October despite dropping toward the end of the month, helped along no doubt by several thousand (quickly sold out) signed editions. We also saw a appropriately strong “debut” for Robert Jordan’s Warrior of the Altaii (available in a Barnes & Noble exclusive edition with extra color artwork); fans proved excited about the release of the late revered writer’s long-lost first novel. Further down the list, readers snapped up collector’s edition of Dune and A Conjuring of Light, while Paul Krueger’s Pokémon-meets-The Last Airbender adventure Steel Crow Saga found enough early adopters to make the number 9 slot. On the comics from, excitement for HBO’s Watchmen is clearly spilling over onto the sales charts, while in manga, we’re edging ever-closer to a top 10 made up solely of My Hero Academia-related titles.
