The Flock is Back in James Patterson’s Maximum Ride Forever

Maximum Ride Forever, the ninth book in the action-packed series, comes out on May 18. It finds the avian-human hybrids fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Like its predecessor, Nevermore, Maximum Ride Forever is being touted as the flock’s final journey, but as any true fan of this series knows, things are not always as they seem (translation: let’s cross our fingers for another installment).
If you haven’t yet met the sassy, superhuman six, here is a primer on their wild ride. Hold on tight!

The Angel Experiment (Maximum Ride Series #1)
In the novel that started it all, six-year-old Angel is kidnapped by Erasers and imprisoned again in the School. When Max and the gang set out to rescue her, they unearth classified information that may lead them to their parents.

The flock heads to the Capitol in search of intel on their identities, but a battle with the Erasers leaves Fang gravely injured. Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports (Maximum Ride Series #3)
Max discovers that the monolithic Itex Corporation controls the School and its genetic experiments, and now Itex’s evil director plans to kill all recombinant-DNA life forms, including the flock, and eliminate most of the world’s population. The flock must navigate a rift between Max and Fang that threatens to divide their family forever, and find a way to undermine the all-powerful corporation.

The Final Warning (Maximum Ride Series #4)
Itex’s mechanized Uber-Director is out to kill the flock, and the U.S. Government is keeping them under constant watch. Despite these dangers, the bird kids help environmental scientists gather data about global warming in Antarctica to save the world. Impassioned by the cause, Max steps more fully into her destiny and accepts a new mission with open…wings.

MAX (Maximum Ride Series #5)
Mr. Chu, a powerful new enemy, is determined to seize control of the flock as a rumored apocalypse draws near. As Max and the team dodge this emergent nemesis, they take to the seas to help the government identify the force that is annihilating ships in the Pacific.

Fang (Maximum Ride Series #6)
The group heads to Africa to help with humanitarian relief efforts. There, a geneticist introduces the flock to Dylan, a human-avian hybrid who has been engineered to be Max’s perfect mate. Tensions mount as Angel prophecies that Fang will be the first among them to die—and soon—and Max and Fang’s burgeoning romance causes him to leave the flock.

Angel (Maximum Ride Series #7)
Fang and his new posse, which includes Max’s clone, Maya, are hot on the trail of the Doomsday Group, an organization hell-bent on creating a new tomorrow by killing all humans. Max and her flock, which now counts Dylan as a member, join forces with Fang’s gang to defeat the Doomsday Group in Paris.

Nevermore (Maximum Ride Series #8)
The stakes are higher than ever for Max and her family, who have been betrayed by the only adults they thought they could trust. Angel has once again been captured by whitecoats, Max is torn between Dylan and Fang (who has returned to the flock), and they all face a looming apocalypse.

Maximum Ride Forever (Maximum Ride Series #9)
