Jewel E. Ann's "Scarlet Stone" is a great read. The writing is very detailed, it draws you in. The sexy scenes are very detailed. For every ounce of strength and brokenness in Theo, Scarlet has an extra ounce of toughness. She's an amazing leading lady who beats back some huge obstacles. Theo is rough and super sexy! There will be no cuddling with "the law." I would love to read more from this author.

Loved this story. My only beef is so many heroines instantly forgive no matter how much they were wronged. I believe in forgiveness but he should have to earn it.

4.25 stars--SCARLET STONE by Jewel E. Ann is a stand alone, slightly paranormal, romance story line focusing on third generation thief Scarlet ‘Ruby’ Stone, and musician/handyman Theodore ‘Theo’ Reed. Told from dual first person points of view (Scarlet and Theo) SCARLET STONE is a story line steeped in emotional and physical anger, betrayal, revenge, falling in love and letting go. Scarlet Stone is a woman whose life is changing. With her father, Oscar Stone, serving twenty years behind bars for a crime he did not commit, British citizen Scarlet Stone heads to America where her future unfolds. On the plane, Scarlet will meet American Nolan Moore who offers her a place to stay, in Savannah Georgia, while our heroine considers her future-a future with an expiry date and no time for a relationship or love. Meeting Theodore Reed, her housemate, and soon to be lover finds our heroine falling in love with an angry, bitter and obstinate man whose plans do not include Scarlet Stone. What ensues is the push and pull; yin and yang between two people whose lives will collide when lies, betrayal, and the truth are revealed. Jewel E Ann writes an amazing story line about an eccentric heroine; a bitter and vengeful (anti) hero; and a past that will collide with the present as Scarlet searches for the truth. SCARLET STONE is a passionate tale; a chaotic collision; a back and forth between two people whose lives are tragic; whose souls are broken. The premise is heartbreaking and intoxicating; the romance is aggressive and impassioned; the characters are dramatic and intense.

Scarlet leaves behind all that she knows to find herself and the meaning of life. She finds so much more. Her mother’s birth place. A crazy southern family. A bitter man filled with anger. A mystery to solve. The author has created a bevy of unusual characters. Scarlet Stone the character defies description. She is strong, vulnerable, hopeful, broken. She is filled with pain, regret, and wants. Her devotion is almost unbelievable. Theo Reed is a dark horse. His anger is beyond consuming. It’s like a cancer that spreads to every cell of his being. Forced to share a house with someone like Scarlet might drive him over the edge of reason. The secondary characters are a mixed lot. Yimin the Chinese herbalist says a lot without actually having much dialogue. Oscar Stone, Scarlet’s father, is disreputable, chivalrous, wise and loving. He should be a questionable character considering the life he led, but I couldn’t help seeing him as a wonderful, caring father. Warned off by many people, Scarlet is a moth to Theo’s flame. These two couldn’t be more alike and more different. Their chemistry is caustic like a thick acrid smoke rising from a failed chemistry experiment…until it isn’t. Things happen. Circumstances change. Unfortunately for Scarlet, they keep changing. Scarlet Stone has more twists and turns than San Francisco’s Lombard Street, and unlike Lombard Street, the twist turn back onto themselves. With each turn, Scarlet reflects on something from her past and how it potentially impacted her present. The story is mostly told from Scarlet’s point-of-view, but there are a handful of short chapters narrated by Theo. Scarlet slowly reveals her past and her present predicaments that led her to Tybee Island. Scarlet Stone is a metaphysical journey. Karma, Ayurveda healing, philosophy, the circle of life, and a little mystery had me laughing and feeling melancholy throughout the book. There is so much for the characters to be sad about, but the new Scarlet finds a way to appreciate every breath she takes. After all the angst and emotional turmoil, Author Jewel E. Ann brought tears to my eyes with her sweet epilogue. It’s an unexpected ending that will melt your heart.

This author is good at creating wonderful female leads. Scarlet is so original. I can't compare her to any others from recent books I've read. I love this because it seems so often that the women in romance books can only have a couple of personalities. Scarlet is multidimensional with her very own flaws and attractions. Actually every person in this story is not the average role. I'd say they're all a little 'off' in some way, and it makes them very interesting and not easily figured out. I was never quite sure what action or reaction someone would have in each scene of this story. I like that. Theo is unusual type of romantic hero. He's not the kind of man who sweeps you away. He grows on you. I love Theo and Scarlet. They definitely have a relationship that pulls out all the emotions. If you like troubled characters with big hearts, this is that couple. Even though it's not really his story, Scarlet's dad, Oscar, stole the show for me. I completely fell for him. ♥ The storyline surprised me often. Sometimes it felt like a spiritual journey and really spoke to me on that level. Other times the passion was intense, or the plot felt suspenseful. There are some twists and mysteries that I didn't even know were going to play out connected to everything. If you're looking for a romance with a different feel, please check this out. It's sexy, exciting, thoughtful and just a bit of everything. I enjoyed it.

Scarlet Stone is a bloody brilliant book that left me completely gobsmacked, knackered, and gutted once I finished it. I curled up in a ball on my sofa and cried my eyes out until I fell asleep from exhaustion. This is going on my "One Of A Kind" bookshelf, once I get myself a signed copy. I went into this book blind- I don't think I ever even really read the full blurb. I just trusted that it's a Jewel E Ann book and knew it would be all kinds of amazing, and it was. So I'd suggest the same for you. If you've read any of her previous books do yourself a favor and read this one- it's an experience you won't regret. My only regret is that I'm just existing in this life and I don't know how to go about changing that.

I loved Scarlet Stone and 5 stars are just not enough! I love how unique Scarlet is in her thoughts and actions. This book allows you to think outside the box about issues that many just accept everyday. The relationship between Scarlet and Theo is just as unique as they are. I loved this so much!

Scarlet Stone, is the latest from Jewel. It has a different feel from her other books I’ve read. But it’s extremely good.  Scarlet, is probably one of the most interesting, intriguing characters I’ve read. There are so many layers to Scarlet. She is strong willed but emotional. She holds strong to what she wants. I found Theo to be surprisingly likable. I was unsure at first but he grew on me. The other characters in the story also kept me entertained.  There’s so much going on through out this story. With Scarlet trying to find her way, a different life. To the mystery that surrounds all of them. There is so much raw emotion, it really tugs at your heart strings. I didn’t know what Scarlet Stone was about, I never like knowing. I just like to jump into a story and be surprised. But Jewel always surprises me on some level. They way that she brings a story to life, is really just an amazing thing.  This isn’t a puppies and unicorns read. So if you’re looking for that, I wouldn’t read Scarlet Stone. But if you want something edgy and raw. Then totally grab a copy.  Overall, I give Scarlet Stone a 4.5 Boundless Stars....Lissa
