I'm a teacher. I read this book with a high-school class. Then I read it aloud to my family. Then I read it with another high-school class, and today I just finished reading it aloud to a sixth-grade class of students with learning disabilities. It is a marvelous book. Most of my students don't read for pleasure, and have not experienced the emotional power of literature. Wonder hooks their interest, and brings a bit of compassion and empathy to their "too cool to care about much of anything" hearts. Even on my fourth time through, my voice cracks and my eyes water at painful points in the story, and at joyful turns of events. This is a beautiful book.
My grandson loved it. His face lit up with the biggest smile when he unwrapped this present. He was familiar with the story and wanted this very much.
The world would be a better place if everyone read this book.
