Everybody knows Rodgers & Hammerstein's big hits, from Oklahoma! to The Sound Of Music. This show, based on John Steinbeck's novel Cannery Row, was their biggest flop. The most popular explanation for the musical's failure is that Oscar Hammerstein II just wasn't comfortable with the low life of prostitution/a>/i>/i>/i>

Pipe Dream based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Although Pipe Dream was a flop on Broadway, the music is great especially when you think of the storyline. It would be wonderful if adapted for junior high students for self esteem. I found this album when I was a teen and have loved it for more than 30 years! The music has been used other places but often not credited. I remember an educational movie in the classroom that had "All Kinds of People" played as background music and when 'State Fair' played in Chicago, they used "The Man I Used to Be" in the production and it fit right in.
