If you find yourself looking for a little something extra this holiday season, but still want to get an album where they're still singing traditional Christmas songs, this is the one. New Orleans/Dixieland jazz renditions of several jazz standards plus a few originals from The Big Easy.

The album has a very warm and vintage feeling to it and I applaud Putumayo for this collection. If you want something to play to facilitate conversation and for the most part give your Christmas party a little atmosphere you can't go wrong with this CD. I bought it last year and its the first one I pulled out this year.

Notables include the Big Al Carson tune at the beginning that gets the album off to a lively start, the Ellis Marsalis Trio instrumental "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," Banu Gibson, and the second to last track "Santa's Second Line" with a bouncing tuba melody carrying the thing through.

Happy Holidays!
