A Dog Called Valentine isn't a very deep story but it sure was fun, with a dog that is just about the best thing ever.  He stole my heart before I was even a fifth of the way in!  Shane also had a few heart-tugging moments and I definitely understand his hesitancy in getting too involved with anyone (whether they have 4 legs or 2) but Lily's enthusiasm and need to make sure that Valentine gets a happy home is pretty compelling.   I think there was a lot more opportunity to delve into some of the family dynamics and the romance between Lily and Shane.  Readers will get a satisfying and enjoyable read but I think there is so much material there between Shane's issues and Lily's family drama.  Occasionally the timeline got a little wonky too but I can easily forgive that.   With an adorable matchmaking dog (and grandma) and a sweet ending (predictable but cute), Snopek delivers a lovely little story that is perfect for a pretty day sitting in the shade ... or a cool day under a cozy blanket :)   (Overall a solid 3.5 Stars) **Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**

3.5stars Lilly and Shane meet because of a foster rescued dog Valentine. Because both are oft set for a blind date from friends/family they agree to be a fake couple and in between helping eachother. Shane with dog training and Lily with redecorating Shanes grandmother house. In between they become to eachother so much more. They become support, and shoulder to cry one they learn to live with the past and to stand for themselves. Lovely book I just wish there would be a little more romance, we just see one kiss between them. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

This is the cutest book! A sweet couple of people who have both said good-bye to love connect through a rowdy, rambunctious, mistreated dog. Lily is fostering poor, misunderstood Valentine. He has been through too much misery in his life but retains a sparky spirit. Shane lost his partner dog in a shooting tragedy and is never going to devote himself to another dog. Until Lily and Valentine enter his life and challenge his thoughts on dogs and love, that is.

sweet, slow burn romance with all the feels, two souls in need of love, and a dog who brought them together.

I loved this delightful story, mind you, that's not really a surprise as I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I've read by this author! Valentine is a mistreated dog that is struggling to find a forever home so one of the rescue centre volunteers, Lily, decides she'll do her best to help him become a more appealing, well behaved dog in the hope that someone will then choose to keep him. However, Valentine is a much stronger and stubborn dog than she'd anticipated and she has no prior experience of dog training so is really struggling. During their first walk he slips off his collar and runs off to where handsome Shane is helping restore his Grandmother's home. Shane is recovering from an incident in which he was shot and his canine partner was killed. He doesn't want another dog but he can't resist offering to help Lily and Valentine, never realising just what that will lead to! This is a contemporary fake to real romance with great characters - human and canine! There's plenty of drama as Shane and Lily work together to thwart their match making Gran and Mother. It is a story of relationships and misunderstandings, grief and moving on. I found it an enthralling read and have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending this - and any other books I've read by this talented author. I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

I’m going to be working through the story hangover left after this book for a long time to come. It’s not really an emotional roller-coaster, there aren’t the big changes of direction I expect from that, but it pack one heck of a punch. I kind of think I’m feeling what “punch drunk” really means. Lily and Shane are adorable together. Add Valentine into the mix and you’ve got a lot of chaos to deal with, but still completely adorable. I’d be hard pressed to pick a favorite character from this book. And yet Valentine stole the show for me every time I saw him. Anyone who’s ever loved a rambunctious rescue will see themselves in parts of this story and will fall in love with the big-hearted mutt and his people just like I did. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley.

What a wonderful, funny and yes even sweet and even at time teary read this book was. Author Roxanne Snopek penned the perfect well rounded book that had the perfect amount of every bit of of each bit of the ingredients that make a wonderful read story. This is one that had the right ones mixed into the pot and left to bake for the perfect Valentine and any time read. Lily works at an animal shelter and while on "break" she decides to foster a dog. That dog ends up being central to this story. And his name is Valentine or Val. Val introduces Lily to Shane by way of running away. The way these 3 work together is unbelievable enjoyable and so much fun to read. I love Shane's grandma and think and hope that our author will give his her story as well some time in the future.

Loved it! A sweet tale of how a couple is brought together by a dog named Valentine. Lilly is volunteering at the shelter when Valentine is dropped off. She decides to take him in as a foster until his forever home can be found. She never expected him to be as unruly as he turned out to be. Knowing he would never get adopted without some training she sets out to teach him as best as she can. Problem is Valentine only seems to listen to the stoic stranger they stumbled upon in the park. Turns out that stranger is a former K9 officer who has recently been injured as well as losing his partner. Shane has vowed to never become attached to anyone or anything again. Can he help Lilly train Valentine and not fall for them both? Recommended read

I had never read any books by this author and had no idea what to expect. Little did I know I was going to find a rare pearl in a vast ocean of authors. While others will give you the plot, I will go a different way. The story of Lilly, Shane and the dog named Valentine was touching, and at times heartbreaking , but also heartwarming. With Lilly’s , we are reminded that the experiences we have as children and how parents behalf towards us, does in fact affect us as adults. Insecurities and feelings of not being good enough can be a heavy load to carry. Shane, is recovering physically and mentally after an incident that changed his life foreve , and one in which he suffered a great loss. Since then, he has closed himself off from others, love and trusting someone else. Valentine, now in an animal shelter, is a dog that has suffered a great deal as well. When Lilly decides to foster the rambunctious dog, little did she know that the lives of these three would be clanged forever. A lovely story of about losses, hope , new beginnings , trust, letting go and love. One you will surely fall in love with. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Loved, loved this heart warming romance of how a dog brings this couple together. Valentine, a foster dog will have you laughing out loud with his antics. Lily is over her head with Valentine, when she meets Shane at the park. Shane is dealing with his own past and grief of loosing his partner, but finally agrees to help Lily, since this is only temporary. Loved this story, you will be laughing out loud throughout the book. It shows how much unconditional love a dog can give you. Shane and Lily are just so cute together. I highly recommend this book!!

A Dog Called Valentine by Roxanne Snopek Neither lily nor Shane are in the market for a relationship though their friends and relatives seem dedicated to finding them the perfect person to make their lives complete. Shane is dealing with the probably loss of being an active duty policeman after being injured on the job and losing his K-9 partner as he rehab’s his grandmother’s home and gets on with his life. Lily is enmeshed in her mother’s NGO even though she would much rather be doing interior design and her new focus is to give back by taking in a foster dog. Well, the foster dog is a handful and a half that has her chasing Valentine hither and yon and right into the arms of Shane who knows more about dogs and training them than anyone knew. The two come to an agreement to get Valentine trained in time for an event that will find him a new forever home and while they work together they will pretend to have a relationship to keep their families and friends off their backs. This was a sweet feel-good story that had two worthy wonderful characters find their HEA. It was somewhat predictable but a fun way to spend the afternoon. Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars

A Dog Called Valentine by Roxanne Snopek. A heart-warming story. The author know how to bring a story together. This story grabbed me from the first chapter and wouldn't let me go until I finished the book. A totally enjoyable book.

Loved this book!!! Lily is a passionate animal volunteer and takes in a dog that has been bounced between a number of homes and always returned. She immediately realizes that she got more than she bargained for and that the dog is in charge. While trying to walk him, her new neighbor rescues her and assists with the dog. This begins an unusual relationship with lots of secrets. The author is a master at her craft and had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. I fell in love with the characters and found their story both funny and poignant. Shane's history in particular sad and heroic, making him a brooding hero. This novel is a must read for fans of the genre. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.

I laughed, I got teary eyed and really enjoyed this book! Anyone who has a dog or loves pets would enjoy this story of Valentine, a dog that no one wanted. Lily Garner volunteers at a pet shelter and applied to foster Valentine…she knows nothing about training dogs, but just knows that she will be able to help Valentine get a forever home. Valentine is matted and uncared for and Lily will change all that. Lily meets Shane Bowman when Valentine, who is overjoyed to be out of a cage, takes off one day. Shane is restoring his grandmother’s house and is able to corral Valentine. Lily is amazed at the structured reaction that Valentine has to Shane. Shane is a RCMP Officer who is recovering from being shot and losing his K-9 partner, Titan. He is not interested in having another dog, but finds himself unwillingly offering to help Lily. I read this book in one sitting as it was such a delightful story with characters (and Valentine) that I was rooting for. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

A sweet and heartfelt story. Shane is a police officer who is preparing his grandmother’s house to sell while he is recovering from a career ending injury. His meddling grandmother is determined to get him dating again even if she has to submit his picture to the reality show, The Bachelorette. Lily is an heiress who desperately wants to live life on her own terms. Her dream is to start an interior design company with her friends. But, her mother just wants her to dedicate her time to charity and settle down with one of the many so-called perfect men she knows. When Lily fosters a dog from the shelter she volunteers at, she has no idea how much her life will change. She didn’t expect to fall in love with the dog or Shane, who helps her train him. I loved this book. I went through all the emotions while reading it, but mostly I laughed because of Valentine’s silly antics. Lily and Shane were the perfect couple. They were so good for each other, but they just didn’t see it at first. I enjoyed the fake dating part of the story and watching Valentine heal their broken hearts and lives. Shane’s grandmother was a fun part of the story too. I almost think she needs her own book.
