Overview

From the steaming jungles of Vietnam to the frozen New Hampshire forty years later, Rick O’Neil finds himself fighting two wars, Vietnam and his own private war. While deployed to Vietnam, Rick along with two friends become involved with Tony Marchesi a streetwise punk from Brooklyn. Tony gets involved in the black market and in a deal gone bad murders a Vietnamese and convinces the men to take a vow of silence. Each man returns home, scarred by the war and coping with adjusting to civilian life.

One of the men, consumed by his demons, commits suicide. Rick’s carefully constructed life comes crashing down when he hears of his friend suicide. Now, Rick must decide if he wants to tear open old war wounds and face his own demons or keep silent. With the help of his friends, he wrestles with his conscience all the while trying to stay one step ahead of Marchesi and his hired gun.

Drawing on his own Vietnam experiences author Pete Turner has crafted a novel dealing with one man’s conflicting emotions and the high cost of war.

About the Author

I have been a construction worker, a fork truck operator, and vice president of marketing and sales. I've clean bathrooms and flown in corporate jets. I know the horror of war and the true love of a beautiful woman. I try to bring all these life experiences to my writing. Writing has always been a lifelong dream. Finally, at 71 years young, that dream has become a reality with the publication of my first book, "Da Nang Damned". This book has been buzzing around in my head for nearly 50 years! By drawing on my own Vietnam, experience and years spent living in Northern New England, will hopefully, make this book seem alive, authentic and a great read. I am donating 100% of all profits from "Da Nang Damned" to Carroll County Veterans Independence Project (VIP). VIP will renovate an old army reserve building into a shelter and training center for veterans.
