Prior to his passing of brain cancer on July 1, 2009, Craig Farnsworth was a market manager for Radix Wire Company. He earned B.A.'s in Physics and Elementary Education from Hiram College in Ohio. He taught elementary education for four years before becoming a gas appliance research and developer. Craig was a musician, playing many types of flutes and the guitar. He sang bass in choirs, and he performed nationally in the United States with the Voices of Bahá choir, including performing in Carnegie Hall.

Craig's commitment was to make a difference for others, truly living to serve. He was a VIP Hero blood donor for the American Red Cross, on the school board for his local Bahá'í Sunday school, on various Bahá'í committees including for an annual youth conference, facilitated Honest Conversations race dialogue sessions, coached others through building community change projects, was active in Toastmasters, and served on the boards of directors and as an officer for the Interfaith Suburban Action Coalition, Euclid Community Concerns, Better Together marriage coalition, and his neighborhood association.
