Jess Harris Burnett, Deputy Chief of Major Crime, she has ended the case of Eric Spears who was a series killer. The story picks up eighteen months later. Than one day she got a text on her phone that it read just like the ones that Eric had been sending to her. But there is just one problem Eric Spears, is dead. So who is now sending her these message? Why now? This story gives a great start into the new series of Faces of Evil. If you enjoy reading books with action, suspenseful and romance that will keep you on your toes. Than this book is for you, you really don’t want to miss reading this one. Envy, is a great way to finding out some of the questions and answers that has burning in your thoughts. Debra Webb, is a master at telling a story and yes I would recommend this book to you and any of Debra Webb fans and the new ones that she will get along the way.

This is actually one short story (ENVY) and one teaser for DARK WHISPERS. Dark Whispers is a new Faces of Evil book that will be out shortly. ENVY features Deputy Chief Jess Burnett. Jess killed serial killer Eric Spears 18 months ago. And now it seems he's back ... in the form of a fan, a copy cat. And the copy wants to finish what Spears had started... which is to kill her. Like Spears, this copy cat wants to play and Jess is determined to protect herself and her family at all costs. And then her infant daughter is kidnapped ..... A fast, easy read that sets the stage for her upcoming new books in the Faces of Evil series. While not necessary, I would highly recommend starting with Book 1 and reading forward. As I've come to expect from this author, her stories are very well written, sprinkled with a twist, a turn, a surprise sprinkled throughout. Her characters are people you will grow to care about. Excellent series! Also included in this e-book are the first two chapters of DARK WHISPERS. Without giving any spoilers, Jess Burnett has started a new segment of her life. She's had to make changes and one of those changes is that she is now working with Clint Hayes. He is now one of her investigators. Clint's first assignment is to investigate a woman who walks into his office and declares that she shot and killed an intruder. However, when police took a look, there was no body, no blood, and the gun is also missing. So .... did she really kill someone or is she having hallucinations brought on by a massive head injury she suffered 2 years ago? Or is someone trying to make her think she's going crazy? This just whetted my appetite to read the entire book when it become available. I hope you add this on to your wish list ... because I sure did.

Eighteen months have passed since Deputy Chief Jess Harris Burnett put an end to serial killer Eric Spears. Now someone is sending messages to Jess and he is determined to imitate Spears and his heinous crimes. Jess and her major crimes unit must once again “play the game” and find him fast, before it’s too late for them all. This is an incredible short story and a great introduction to the new Faces of Evil spinoff series. I have never seen so much action packed in so few pages. I have read and love the entire series and this is no exception. You don’t want to miss out on this one.
