The author takes the reader along as a participant in the opening and daily operation of many of the drive-thru safari parks that opened in the U.S., and around the world, in the 1960's and 70's. The parks that featured large groups of semi-free ranging carnivores have vanished. I have known Gus for more than forty years and participated in many of the events he describes. Reading the book took me back to one of the most exciting and enjoyable times of my life. I spent more than thirty years in various aspects of the exotic animal business. Most people seemed to envy the type of work I was involved in. This book is an opportunity for anyone who has ever thought about zoo work as a career to find out what they missed, or what they might be getting themselves into.
highly recommended sounds like a very interesting read
