Pepper Winters is an amazing writer. You feel everything she writes, the anger, the pain, the loss, the passion and love. I cried, I felt their passion, I love when an author can "paint" such a vivid picture. There are a few times times it's hard to imagine how something could happen but if you just read and the the experience story you will love it.

“Minute by minute, my anger solidified. The Hawks had been untouchable for long enough. They believed no amount of treason or rebellion could dethrone them. They were wrong. Their reign was over. It was time for a new ruler. One who stood for justice rather than debt. One who would avenge those she’d lost. They’ve underestimated me. And they would die because of it.” Fourth Debt picks up right where Third Debt left off. Living in a world without Jethro and Kes is almost unbearable for Nila. Her will to survive is gone. She doesn’t want to be in this life without her love. “The further apart we became, the less human I felt. It was as if the tether binding us would snap at any moment, leaving me smarting, empty, and alone.” She comes so very close to breaking, and almost does until she realizes that she must end what the Hawks have started. She not only needs to free her family from the debt inheritance, but also get avenge Jethro and Kes….. I absolutely loved Nila in this book. Her strength and determination was so inspiring. She fought like hell to live; to take back her life and end the rule of the Hawks. Nila faced so many ups and downs in Fourth Debt. Everything she endured in the first four books are like a cake walk for what lies ahead for Nila. My mind can not even fathom having the strength and willpower to endure what she did. “TIME WAS MY worst enemy. Nothing good ever came from time. It passed too quickly–good moments and happy memories gone in a blink. Or it passed to slowly–bad experiences and unhappy circumstances dragging for an eternity.” After finishing this book, I have a better understanding of both sides of the story. The things that the Weaver women had to endure in the past were eye opening. The fact that it was able to go on year after year, decade after decade was just mind blowing. That something like this could happen, that lawyers could be brought in and make these contracts and dealings “legal”. That people who were supposed to uphold the law and fight for the innocent, allowed these terrible things to continually take place. It’s impossible to wrap your mind around it. There’s not much I can say as I really want to keep this review spoiler free. Here’s what I can tell you: This book will take you on one crazy ride. Whatever you think you know, wipe that from your mind right now. This story has so many twists and turns. It will leaving you holding your breath and clenching your jaw. This story will captivate and consume you. It will demand that every word be devoured, refusing to loosen it’s grips on you until you get to the very last page. And boy, let me tell you, in true Pepper Winters fashion, that last page is a doozy! It’s all come down to this. Everything has been leading to this point. I am desperate to find out what happens next. Has time finally caught up with Nila? Will Nila finally be able to free her family from the Debt Inheritance? I can not wait to see how everything will come together in the end. Once again, Pepper Winters has blown my mind and left me begging for more! *I was provided an ARC copy of this book via TRSOR Promotions, in exchange for an honest review*

This series is not for the faint of heart. This particular book is the most harrowing one to read. The pace is slower yet you know that the author was true to her vision, so she had no choice but to slow down the pace. As the reader, I felt jarred ... unsteady, probably as much as Nila did. I was beyond frustrated and knew my anger was deserved. As much as I wanted to skim through this to get to the 5th Debt, the details are a necessary evil ... much like the Hawk's matriarch!

I have to say as i always do, thank goodness i wait for the entire series to be released before starting. I would have an incredibly hard waiting. I read reviews and im surprised people skipped sections as this book had me hanging in its grips the entire time. The bad guys seem to be winning and jethro cant save nila from unimaginable pain, even the ending has you begging for the bad guys to lose and they dont. At moments this book reminded me of other popular series where the leading man is gone and the leading woman is holding on by a thread, trying to stay strong but even the strongest lose hope. Devastating......emtional.......when will the tides turn for jethro and nila...... i am still hoping good prevails over evil.

I started out not liking the series and almost stopped reading halfway through the first book, but kept going until it finally pulled me in. The next few books were exciting and I couldnt wait to see what happened next. Now in this latest book I found myself getting bored quite often and skipping pages. There's only so much inner dialogue I can take and it became way too repetative. Nila faces alot more torture in this book that seems pointless and I'm not sure I even care how the story ends. The only reason in my mind to read the last book is to see how she gets her revenge on Cut, Daniel, and Bonnie.

This series. Dear God this series. I've been hooked since the first book and each one after has been more twisted and more captivating than the previous. How much pain does one couple have to go through to get their happily ever after? We pick up where last book left off, and I am going to be purposefully vague here in case anyone who has never read any of these yet is reading this review. Third Debt ended with the biggest cliff hanger yet and we are left wondering did that craziness really happen? Yes. Yes it did. What happens now? Nila has lost her only two allies in the hell that is her life, is there anyone left that she can trust? Pepper did a fantastic job of keeping us on our toes with this installment, wondering who, if anyone, was on Nila's side. Nila is physically and mentally tortured at the hands of the three sickos left in charge and you can truly feel her starting to deteriorate and give up. Just when you think there is a sliver of hope that Nila might get out, the end comes with yet another twist and hope is once again snuffed out. I am both looking forward to and dreading the final installment of this series. I can't help but wonder if there is any possible way for an HEA here and it terrifies me. But I am also looking forward to some of the evil Hawk's getting a taste of their own medicine. In particular, I hope Nila gets the chance to wring Bonnie's neck until she takes her last breath. Evil of me? Probably. But believe me when I say it is more than deserved.

I love this whole series! While I would like to say each book is just the greast thing ever....the editor in me has to disagree. The plotline of the fifth book is nice, however I do find that it drags in certain areas and has a sense a repetitveness-- like most series books-- until the beginning of the end. I cannot wait until the last book comes out! I'm ready to know whether the final debt will be repaid? And what happens between Kite and Needle?

I'm gutted...again. Pepper Winters took me apart piece by piece, page by page, and barely put me back together by the end of the book. She didn't spare anyone, let one Nila, Jethro, and the rest of the Weavers and Hawks. The only ones to enjoy themselves were Bonnie, Cut, and Daniel. I can't even type their names without shuddering. I know what I'm reading is not real, but that doesn't lessen my desire to reach into my e-reader and strangle them with my bare hands. I wanted the suffering of so many to end, and yet I couldn't force myself to stop reading and put the book down. I had to know what happened next. Nothing could stop me, not the fear in my chest or my anxious nerves. The Weaver and Hawk Saga is still such a mystery. Each debt has revealed something but with the massive shake up in the hierarchy of power and control, things have changed. With each new revelation, Nila is left with more questions as am I. She and I may have learned about Emma, her mother, but the questions raised about Jethro's mother and uncle have been left unanswered. The mention of a past couple bonded by and in the debt was also a small peek into what might be coming for her. Nila Weaver has an almost unbelievable will. She has been through so much and goes through so much in this book and yet she has limitless wells of strength. She relies on her different emotions to get her through the gauntlet she's facing. I admire her so much. The beauty and challenge of talking about this book is not revealing anything that could ruin the reading experiences for others. It's one that you've got to read to find out how it'll effect you. As someone who has repeatedly professed to not love dark romance with violence and mind games, I've become a huge fan of this series and Pepper Winters. It's become a not-so-secret addiction. I'm so invested in this story I couldn't stop even if I wanted to. Pepper is the queen of cliffhangers. I'm once again on tenterhooks about what will happen to Nila from this point on. Hope is such a precious thing and hers seems to be dwindling. Waiting as it always is going to be such sweet agony.

I have to say this was mot my favorite book in the series. At times it was dragging almost to boredom. Although this book did make me cry the hardest. My heart was screaming in pain for Nila an what those monsters did to her. I think I could litterally feel her pain coming off the pages. Now I'm just terrified for her and what comes next. Can't wait for the next book. I extremely recommend this series to everyone.

Of course with any of Pepper Winters' books I go through my stages of book hangover. AWESTRUCK, ANGRY, SAD, PISSED, LOVE and then CALM. But she has really outdid herself on this one. I can't even begin say how much I am looking forward to the final debt with Nila and Jethro but honestly I never want this ride to end.

Oh My God I can't believe how much this series has held me enthralled, waiting for every little tidbit that Pepper very begrudgingly hands out. This unwilling love story between Nila and Jethro is amazing just when you think that they may have a chance to end this stupid history between the families something happens. Death is the end result but who's death are we expecting. Follow along as the twists and turns get more twisted (Pepper your Can anyone survive the evil that lives and breathes in the Hawks, be it Hawk or Weaver? Just how far is Nila going to go before she looses herself.

4.25 stars----FOURTH DEBT is the fifth installment in Pepper Winters’s contemporary, adult Indebted dark, erotic romance series focusing on a six hundred year old debt the Hawk family believes comes due with the first born Weaver daughter-and Nila Weaver is this generation’s payment. FOURTH DEBT is the continuing story of Nila Weaver’s struggles to remain sane and unbroken in the face of her impending death. FOURTH DEBT should not be read as a stand alone as each installment builds upon the events of the previous storylines wherein our heroine pays the price for her ancestor’s sins. Told from dual first person perspectives FOURTH DEBT follows a grieving Nila as she comes to terms with the greatest loss of her life. No amount of torture or pain can break past the numbness in her heart and her head until a new round of payment extractions finds our heroine facing the worst debt of all. The premise of FOURTH DEBT continues to be disturbing, dark and demonic. The Hawk family’s need to extract payment comes with it a psychotic need for vengeance and blood. The storyline is awash in graphic details, violent abusive scenarios, and torture all inflicted upon a young woman whose only sin is to be born into the Weaver clan. FOURTH DEBT reveals some of the Hawk family history: their sickening and violent past; their need for sadistic revenge and payment in blood; their history of forbidden love. The storyline is intense, traumatic and not for the faint of heart. FOURTH DEBT and the INDEBTED SERIES is an emotional storyline of betrayal and revenge; kidnapping, torture and abuse; love and sacrifice in the face of extraordinary circumstances. The reader is caught in a web of horror; a house of suffering and pain unlike anyone could imagine and through it all our heroine remains steadfast in her love for the man who dropped her into the middle of the unending nightmare. Pepper Winters’s storylines are controversial and intense; the build up of tension, suspense and anxiety will reach levels of pain and heartache. Her characters are dark, impassioned, and many without a heart or soul. The destructive and twisted nature of greed and revenge lends it focus to a debt where interest continues to grow with each successive generation. No one is safe once the Hawk family demand payment…and payment will be made one way or another.

Very good read although it was very short. Should have been combined with Final Debt and I would have enjoyed it much better.
