Reviewed by Kristen Van Kampen for Readers' Favorite How Santa Got his Reindeer by Pam Atherstone is a fun children's book about Santa Claus. Santa delivers presents to all the young boys and girls. He used to deliver the toys on foot, but every year there were more and more children. Santa becomes worried that he won't be able to get toys to all the children. Grandfather Frost suggests that Santa use a sleigh pulled by reindeer. Santa goes to Siberia to learn more about reindeer and how to care about them. He chooses twelve of the fastest and strongest reindeer to pull his sleigh; eight for his sleigh and four extras. How do the reindeer learn to fly? I really enjoyed reading How Santa Got his Reindeer by Pam Atherstone. The book is very well written and descriptive. I liked that the book provides a reason why Santa would use reindeer. This exciting story has characters that everyone has heard of as well as new characters. The book also teaches some facts about reindeer, what their hooves look like, and why they are good at pulling sleighs. The characters are all appealing, because they are kind and good at problem solving, and Grandfather Frost seems very knowledgeable. The pictures by Adit Galih are very well drawn and depict each scene vividly. The pictures are colourful and the illustrations of the reindeer are adorable. Parents and their children will enjoy reading and rereading this book every holiday season. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.
