I enjoyed reading the book the author was very open with her feelings and thoughts. I never saw the Tv show so it was fun learning everything through her perspective and not for a selling a tv show angle. Good for her being so open about her mistakes and struggles along with the joy and good times.

I have been an avid Bachelor and Bachelorette fan since the very first season of the Bachelor when Alex broke Trista’s heart and then Trista went on to find love with Ryan in the first season of the Bachelorette. I don’t agree with the way that they go to “find love”, but it is great entertainment. Many seasons later, I remember seeing Emily Maynard on the show and her and Ricky stole my heart. The way that Emily and Ricky interacted was so sweet. Her story captured the hearts of many people and this book just helped me understand more about the reasons why she went on the show. The story was heartbreaking and made me cry at times, but it was a great story about overcoming anxiety and fear about falling in love after having heartbreak. It only took me a couple days to read this book because I wanted to know more about this person I had seen on TV. I tend to like to read books about people who were previously on reality TV. This one had writing that was not as developed as I would have liked which one of the few reasons why I gave this book a 4 out of 5 stars and not a 5 out of 5 stars. I received this book from Book Look Bloggers in exchange for my honest review.

I was sent "I Said Yes" by Emily Maynard Johnson from a book publishing company which is a book I'd been wanting to read. The book follows Emily Maynard, from both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette on her journey before and after the show. This book was not my favorite, but it wasn't awful either. She had the help of A.J. Gregory, a ghostwriter with the literary aspects of the book which made me suprised that it wasn't written that well. Sure, if Emily herself had written it not as a professional author her writing style makes sense. But having a professional also writing should have made this story much clearer. I did enjoy the behind the scenes of the filming of the T.V. shows and almost wish there was more of it but I understand why there wasn't as it is a story about her entire life.

If you are a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan, you will probably recognize the author of this book. Emily Maynard Johnson was a contestant on The Bachelor and went on to become The Bachelorette a few seasons later. I actually didn't watch either of those seasons, but I did know a little bit about her story. Plus I love to hear some of the "behind the scenes" details of the show (like I mentioned here), so of course I wanted to read her newly released biography/autobiography entitled I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True Love. In the book, Emily (with the help of ghostwriter A.J. Gregory) shares the story of her life up until this point. She is surprisingly open about her struggles growing up and the heartbreak she has experienced in her life. She describes her time on both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and how she ultimately met and married her husband. Throughout the book, Emily writes about her faith journey and how she finally discovered her true identity in the Lord. The book was a fast read for me. It is almost entirely her story with bits and pieces of insights here and there. It did include a few behind the scenes details about the shows too, for those who are interested in that aspect. I was glad to see how Emily's life has been changed by her relationship with the Lord and the way He is using her story to reach out to others. If you enjoy reading biographies and are a Bachelor fan, you will likely enjoy this book.
