Jeff Herman's Guide to Book Publishers, Editors and Literary Agents 2017: Who They Are, What They Want, How to Win Them Over based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
This is a great value for beginning writers as well most publishing professionals. It gets an A+ from me! I look forward to each revision of Herman’s Guide, mostly because as an author and editor I need to know current names of publishers, agents, and each publisher’s in-house editors. Long ago I learned the hard way that unless you address your work to a specific editor, and know exactly what that editor is looking for, there’s little chance of your getting read. I’ve also learned how important it is to thoroughly research the specialties of each publisher you’re querying—like, if the publisher you’re considering specializes in sociology, don’t send them your novel. All the publishing research you’ll need is included here. It’s several books in one. Besides the comprehensive lists of publishers and literary agents, there are complete instructions for writing query letters, book proposals, plus the whys and wherefores of having your own editor…plus some pretty good moral support for authors. There are lots of books available on each of these subject areas but this guide covers it all. Since Jeff has been a leading literary agent for more than 20 years, I am assured that he knows of what he speaks.
