Kill or Be Kilt-----Victoria Roberts Another great book by this wonderful author. I can`t get enough of her books. It was very well written andd kept me captivated for hours on end. I devoured this book in one day. I really enjoy this series, the characters are extremely interesting and captivating, making you fall in love with each character over and over again. Not only throughout the book but through the entire series. This book was so interesting and entertaining and keeps you glued to the pages and entralled with the story and characters the whole time. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoy a great book and series about love, loss and finding your own way of doing things, and following your heart no matter where it may lead you. As well as being honest with yourself.

For years, Lady Elizabeth Walsingham has held ‘special feelings’ for one man, but he’s never shown the least interest. As she’s finally determined he will never see her as more than the annoying and bothersome young girl with stars in her eyes, she’s determined to move above those feelings. The opportunity to head to court in London, where she can seek other opportunities and begin her grown up life presents itself, and Elizabeth is off. Laird Ian Monroe is not unaware of the young girl, but he’s not interested in a ‘child’, and he’s done everything in his power to stay out of her life. He’s avoided her for years, but a request to accompany her travelling party to London gives him new perspective. She’s no longer a child, but a beautiful young woman, sure to turn heads. While Ian is having his own moments of realization, Elizabeth is reveling in the attentions from the new people she has met since her arrival. Ian has been steadily refuting the worthiness of each man who presents for Elizabeth, until an actor at the Globe seems to become the leading candidate. With members of the King’s Privy Council under siege from a mysterious culprit, the ‘spy’ portion of the story heats up as the mystery and political intrigue takes center stage, pushing the romance and tentative steps toward one another from Ian and Elizabeth. For me, there were a few elements that stood in the way of my enjoying this story as much as I hoped. Firstly was the overuse of gaelic phrases with their accompanying definitions…I’m not a fan of writing to an accent, and while that was not the issue here, frequent insertion of phrases forced me to absorb the meaning, then reread the sentence to put it back into context for the moment. Secondly was Elizabeth. As a child, in earlier stories, she was rather amusing in small doses. As the heroine of the story, she just did not, for me, develop into a full character capable of holding my interest or engendering my empathy or emotions. She was young and untried, and prone to childish moments that pulled her to the brink of annoyance. While the mystery was rather predictable, and villains were rather obvious, the blend of history, mystery and romance leaned more to history and mystery with less focus on romance or the characterizations of Ian and Elizabeth. A solid, if not my favorite, installment in the series. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I really enjoyed this story! We have Elizabeth who has had a crush on Ian for several years and everyone knew it. Ian wasn't interested in marriage and kept his distance from Elizabeth. Fast forward 3 years and we find Elizabeth ready to move on and find a husband. She is tired of waiting on a man that wants nothing to do with her. Ian on the other hand, can't believe the woman that Elizabeth has turned into and can't seem to stop thinking about her. Still not wanting to get married, he finds it troublesome that he is jealous of the attention that Elizabeth is getting from other men. As with the other books in the series, I really enjoyed the bantering between the H/H as well as between the "boys." I'm looking forward to reading what Roberts has in store for us next! Thanks go out to Sourcebooks via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Highland Spies series by Victoria Roberts. This book can be read as a standalone. However, when you read this book you will want to go back and read the other books as well. It’s been three years since Lady Elizabeth Walsingham has ended her childish crush on Laird Ian Munro. But when she sees him she knows she still has feelings for him. Ian has tried hard to avoid Elizabeth, now he is assigned to watch over her while she attends court. The more time he spends with her makes it harder for him to deny the feelings he has for her. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Victoria Roberts is one of my favorite writers. Kill or Be Kilt was just as amazing as her other books, but this one felt special. Ian was a bit different from the other heroes in the series. While he is very intimidating and strong, there is a sweet and sensitive side to him. It even seems like his intimidating persona has sometimes hurt his sensitive side, which really made me like him even more. Finally, I got to see how awesome Ian is! Elizabeth was fantastic in this book too. She is just as strong and feisty as her sisters. I can't even begin to describe how entertaining they are, especially when they are dealing with the men in the book. There are so many wonderful moments between the characters. I couldn't keep my reactions inside, so I was laughing out loud at the many funny moments, and smiling with the very sweet ones. The heartbreaking ones made me nervous, but Ian and Elizabeth couldn't have an easy story. They've been dancing around each other for years! What an interesting dance it was. The thrilling story and irresistible characters make this a must-read book. Do yourself a favor and check out the whole series. It's so good, it's addicting. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in the series and I can't tell you how much I enjoy this series. This one didn't disappoint. Loved Ian and Elizabeth. Elizabeth has always had a thing for Laird Munro, but he didn't return her affections. Now a few years later Ian is reunited with the Walsingham women and boy he's in for a surprise when he sets eyes on Elizabeth. Elizabeth has decided she wants to experience attending the court as her older sisters have to decide how to move on with her life because there is no hope with Ian. The trip to court turns out to be a life changer for everyone. I liked getting to know Ian better and the moment when he finally realizes how Elizabeth sees him and what a gift that truly is a special moment right there. The question is has he messed up too many times for Elizabeth to forgive him? This book has mystery, intrigue, passion, and love. An overall winner for me.It grabs your attention ans sucks you right in. A highly enjoyable read.

Kill or Be Kilt, book three in Victoria Roberts Highland Spies series, and takes readers on a paging turning adventure filled with romance, mystery and suspense! When Lady Elizabeth Walsingham comes back into contact with her unrequited love, Laird Ian Monroe, after a three year separation a sizzling series of events drives them into each others arms and puts both their lives at risk as a killer runs loose in King James' court. This author sagely depicted how the unrelenting devotion of the heroine opened the hero’s reluctant heart to love. As another of the Walsingham sisters finds love and shows her mettle Ms. Roberts’ seasoned writing skills shine through and leaves her fans delighting in another Highland Spies happily ever after! *I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* *While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*

Seeing Lady Elizabeth all grown up and in control of her love for Laird Ian Murno is quite a treat. At times in the first two books watching the unrequited love was almost painful, because I felt like I could be her. She finally has learned to control herself around Ian, although he takes it as "she is just not that into you" anymore. Ian finally has to confront his own feelings for Elizabeth, while he seemed to not be interested in her before, mainly due to their age difference. But now he finally notices her for the wonderful, quiet (important because the man likes peace), thoughtful, and stunningly beautiful woman she is. But of course he thinks she would never love him because he is not handsome enough for her beauty, he is too large and rough around the edges for her according to him. Little does he know, she wants to climb him like a tree, haha... okay that maybe my take on it. Again another fun, wild, and Scottish ride, set in England for this story. I loved how the men were all stuck in Court waiting to talk to King James, and chaperoning Lady Elizabeth. I loved how much Ian complained about the English, despite falling hard for an Englishwoman. And of course, Elizabeth being the strong woman she is, called him out on it. Gotta love when the bookworm gets her man.

3.5* This is a fun fast romantic read with a dash of suspense. Lady Elizabeth has loved Laird Ian Munro since she laid eyes on him. Ian has avoided the Sutherland clan for three years under the thought he's avoiding the many outspoken lasses in the household. Being forced to go to the English court he must end his avoidiness of the clan Sutherland and travel with them to England. At the last moment Lady Elizabeth asks to go to court with the men. Ian soon realizes what a coward he was for he was avoiding Elizabeth and the feelings he had for her. Now if only he can convince Elizabeth that he loves her just as she loves him. If only he could keep his foot out of his mouth.

Kill or Be Kilt by Victoria Roberts is #3 in her exciting "Highland Spies" series, but can be read as a stand alone. Once again, Ms. Roberts has written a superb Scottish Historical Romance. It has many twists and turns, some danger, intrigue, adventure, passion, secrets and the lure of court intrigue. The H/H are interesting, a bit humorous at times, very likeable with a vulnerable side. It it a bit slow in the beginning, but picks up quickly. Ms. Roberts has always fascinated me with her knowledge of Scottish history, her quiet but serious sense of humor and her intriguing, interesting characters, her magnificent storytelling and her way of pulling characters into a story. Another hit for Ms. Robers. I look forward to her next grand Scottish adventure! Another must read "Highland Spies". Fans of Highlanders, Scottish Romance and grand adventures, really should pick up "Kill or Be Kilt". Received for an honest review from Net Galley. Expect murder, deceit and intrigue galore along with a heated romance! She was no longer a girl but had become an enchantress - still young, but beautiful nevertheless. His musings were interrupted by a male voice. "Munro, ye do remember Lady Elizabeth, eh?" How could he forget the reason why he'd avoided Sutherland lands for the past three years?" KILL OR BE KILT by Victoria Roberts is a very enjoyable Scottish romance as Elizabeth, another of the English Walsingham sisters, gives brawny Highlander Laird Ian Munro a few lessons in how to court a lady. Much of this installment takes place at the English court with tournaments, plays, archery matches, dances, and plenty of behind-the-scenes crooked hijinks. KILL OR BE KILT is the story of Lady Elizabeth Walsingham and Laird Ian Munro. As the story begins, Ian arrives at his best friend's castle as both he and the laird there have been summoned to court and they plan to travel there together. Ian has been avoiding his best friend's home since he'd married one Walsingham sister and the other sisters, including Elizabeth, have also made their homes there. Laird Ian is an imposing Highlander who strikes fear in almost everyone he encounters. But, Elizabeth was always an exception as she exhibited a crush on Ian from the moment they met. However, she was a child then and Ian felt that Elizabeth's attention was a passing fancy and a farce. When Elizabeth is re-introduced to him, Ian discovers to his dismay that she has grown into a beautiful feisty woman making her very difficult to ignore. Ian, while very confident of his fighting skills, does not feel at all deserving of her attention, nor is he knowledgeable of courting skills. Plans change when they receive word that the Walsingham sisters' uncle has died in an accident and they also need to return to England to pay their respects. Elizabeth has never been to court and is determined to take advantage of this chance to attend. Ian doesn't trust anyone else to protect her at court so Ian assigns himself as her protector there. He finds the task to be more than he expected with both a nobleman and a dashing favored actor who performs as King Henry III in a theatrical play vying for Elizabeth's hand just as Ian realizes that he wants her for himself. KILL OR BE KILT is the third book in the author's Highland Spies series but can be enjoyed as a standalone if that is your preference. However, fans of the series will be thrilled to know that previous favorite characters do make appearances. This story was well-written, well-paced and engrossing from the first sentence through to the last. There are plenty of both swoon-worthy and heart-stopping moments as someone is targeting the King's inner circle, which had included their uncle. So.. expect murder, deceit and intrigue galore along with a heated romance. I would highly recommend KILL OR BE KILT to anyone who enjoys their Scottish romances with a touch of mystery!
