The Metamorphosis also sometimes known as The Transformation (Orignal German Title: Die Verwandlung) is a novella by Franz Kafka, originally published in 1915.

It is the story of a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, who wakes to find himself transformed into a giant monstrous bug. Widely regarded as a literary masterpiece, Kafka's best known work is required reading and schools and universities across the globe.
