Overview

My Life Experiences presents a collection of poetry written by Evenell Sanders focusing on her life experiences. She lost her father and brother in the same week; a year later she experienced a second divorce, and in 2006 she was diagnosed with lung cancer. CHAPTER 1

      Let Me Tell You

Let me tell you how good Jesus has been to me.

He picked up out of the lost and found.
He healed me when I was sick and down.
He turned my life clean around

He blessed me in the nick of time and restored my life with peace of
    mind.

Let me tell you how good Jesus has been to me.

He made a way out of no way, and He continues to bless me each day.

If you try Him for yourself, you will see.
He will make a believer out of you as He has me.

      Lesson Learned

Most of us learn from the mistakes we make in our life.
We should know, then, not to make the same mistake twice.
But there are some people who never learn from the mistakes they make
    in their life.

Their excuse is to blame someone else for their downfall,
when they are the only ones to blame for it all.
They are like a pattern that repeats itself,
never learning that they bought it all on themselves.

A lesson learned is a lesson earned, because
one day you will learn from it for sure.
Then you will know not to make that same mistake again,
and you will be a little wiser within.

      Lord, You Have
      Given Me

You have given me peace of mind I thought I would never find, Lord.
Each day, you let me live to see you continue to bless me more than I
    deserve.
I know I should be living by your every word.

Lord, you have brought me from a mighty long way,
from struggle and hardship to living and seeing better days.

Lord, you have given me more than I could ever repay.
I thank you and I praise you for it each and every day.
I hope I will be an example to others in some way,
if only by telling them about you
and how you can make the impossible come true.

      Michael Douglas

I truly admire you, as well as the characters you play in your movies. You
are a natural in all you do, with a gift that God has given you.

Michael Douglas, I am glad everything went well for you.
When you had throat cancer, I myself had lung cancer.
May God continue to bless you and keep you in His loving care.

      Making a Difference

You can make a difference in your life and others' lives today
if you just reach out to help someone in need in some way.

When you help someone in need, it doesn't always have to be in a financial
    way.
There are other's ways you can help.
When you do, give willingly from your heart.

I know one thing for sure: God will bless you.
    He has blessed me abundantly.
When I give what I can, having a willing heart to help someone in need,
I don't expect to get or look for something in return,
simply because it is something that I love to do.
It brings a joy within my heart; it's true.
I give all praise to God for letting that be, as well as God making that a
part of my purpose in life for me.

    I have no complaints.

    Make a difference by helping someone in need;
a blessing from God in His time you will receive.

      Madonna

You have indeed come a long way with your different styles that drive
    some men wild.

What I like so much about you is that you are a success in all that you do.
There are not many that can compare to you.

Madonna, may God continue to bless you in all that you do
and keep you in His loving care too.

      Mississippi

In this hospitable state, most people grow their own fresh vegetables,
raise their own hogs and cows.
Down here in the south, this is what a lot of people do.

It saves on going to the grocery store and having to buy everything; that's
a fact—that's true. People here work hard for every dime they earn; most
of us put our money to good use.

We believe in having our own land and home as well.
These things are a must for us,
    even when times are tough.
    We know there is nothing like having your own;
you can pass it on to your children after they are grown
    or when you pass on.

Giving children a start is another thing most of us Mississippi people
    believe in too.
Having something for your children is a very good thing to do.

Mississippi is an all right state to live in. One thing is for sure:
we will come together as a community to help each other.
As long as they are helping themselves, we care about people around us.
And another sure thing: In God we trust.

      My Six Grandchildren:
      A, K , B, Z , M, K

I thank God for each one of you.
I am proud to know that the six of you
    are my adorable grandchildren too.

I constantly pray that God will continue to take care of each of you each
    day,
keeping you all safe and out of harm's way.
    You cannot be cautious enough these days;
there is no telling what some people will do anyway.

I am hoping your parents will teach you,
    while you are still young,
God's Ten Commandments and living His way,
    perhaps before my dying day.

You all will always be in my heart, and I will always love each one of
    you.
You all will always be my bundle of joy,
all five girls and one boy.

    My six grandchildren—A, K, B, Z, M, K—may God always be with each
    one of you.
I am here if there is anything that I am able to do for the six of you.

      My Family

Whenever my family comes to visit me, I treat them like kings and queens.
I lay it out for them by cooking so much homemade food, from collard
greens to just about a little bit of everything.

I make sure they have more than enough to eat whenever they come to
    my house.
This is what I do; showing my love for them is all in it too.

I wish we were a close family like a family should be,
but I know that is wishful thinking, because that will never be.

My family: I treat all of them the same,
and my love for them will remain.

      Barbara Walters

I admire you. You are a remarkable woman; that's true. It shows in all
    you do.
You have come so far in doing what you do: giving it your best.
You have succeeded among many of the rest.

You are a strong, determined woman; that I like about you.
You are an inspiration to me as well as others to keep on doing what you
    do.

Barbara Walters, may God continue to bless you in all that you do.
May He always keep you in His loving care too.

      President Obama

Although you inherited this American crisis, this recession mess,
God chose you for this challenge; he knew you would do your best.

He knew you would make sure to clean up this mess.
In time all American people will have better, nothing less.

President Obama, even though you carry the weight of America on your
    shoulder's,
being an American chief in command,
it is all in God's plan

President Obama, you will be our president with four more years left to go.
I truly believe that is God's divine purpose for you,
and there is no way man can undo what God has set for you.

President Obama, in doing your job, whether it be large or small,
know that God has the last call.
He is with you every step of the way,
guiding and protecting you each day
in every decision you've already met
in every example that you have set.

Thank you, President Obama, for a job well done.
You are making a change that has only just begun.

      My Purpose Mission

My mission will take me on a journey to help some people in need, and
    that I love to do.
I cannot tell you all that I will have to do,
but I know it is my purpose mission from God, and whatever God has
    for me or you
can't no one take away; that's true.

It gives me joy—a peaceful comfort within—
to know that before my life ends,
with the help of God, I will make one of my dreams come true,
and I give all the thanks and praise to God for making it all possible for
    me to do.

My purpose mission is not only a blessing, but a gift too—
a wish that only God has made come true.
I listen to people say, "I am just barely making it myself,
I don't have nothing to give no one else."

How can you expect God to bless you if you won't help anyone?

In God's time, helping others helps you.

      My Book

Writing this book is my heart's desire, a dream come true,
and I truly believe it is a part of my purpose mission that God has called
    me to do
not just to benefit myself, but some others, too,
    who are in need.

It is a blessing indeed when God puts something in your heart to do,
blesses you to make your dream come true,
then gives you all you need to succeed and carry it through.
And as you do, you help some others in need and yourself too.
Whenever God blesses me, I bless others too.
In some way or another, that is what I do.

My book is my heart's desire, my dream come true,
and it is also my purpose mission that only God has put into my heart to
    do.
Whenever God has something for you,
believe me—He will help you make it come true.

      My Two Brothers

Raymond and Michael Cora—the last time I saw them was when I was
living in Chicago, Illinois, with my mother when she gave them to their
father to raise. That was forty years ago. My mother is deceased; she died in
November 1971. The only information my other sisters and brothers have
about Raymond and Michael's father is his first name, which is Kirby, and
that he was or still is living in Nashville, Tennessee.

It is sad yet true that no one in the family knows more than that about
my two brothers' father or where my two brothers are today. I just hope
and pray they are still alive and doing all right. I also hope that someone
who knows them will read this book and let them know I am trying to
find them. Their last name perhaps has been changed from Cora to their
father's last name. They were born in Cook County, Illinois.

I will always love them, and it would be a tremendous blessing to me to
find them and see them again before my life ends.

      Never Doubt God

Never doubt God or what He can do.
He is our creator who gave His life for me and you.

When will you commit to Him and stop turning away?
Don't you know God is coming back one day?

There are some people in this sinful world who love man more than God.

Why lie to others when God knows our hearts?
We will all be judged for our deeds.
What has to happen to you before
    you know God and believe?

Never doubt God; He is the miracle worker in all things in heaven and earth.
    He is our everything,
    our Father,
    our King.

      Oprah

We understand you have fulfilled the purpose that God called you to do.
You even started something new, indeed,
by giving back to others who were in need.

You are an example for others to follow.
    That is a fact.
    That's true.

Oprah, today there are many people following your way
by giving back to others just to brighten their day.

    May God continue to bless you each day;
may He keep you in His loving care always.
