A thoroughably enjoyable paranormal romance novella. Rather than the usual short action packed novella this was slower paced and passion filled, a nice change of pace from what I've been reading lately and I needed it. I had planned to read a chapter or two before going to sleep but I kept going until I was finished despite how tired I was, a mark of a good story! :) Beautiful cover too but then I LOVE big cat shifters...

The book was boring, and never really got into the characters. I know it's a novella but there was just no depth in the story line and characters. Not worth the money.

I really like Ms. Caridad’s short stories. For the length of this short book, she provided just the right amount of romance and hot scenes. Jamie Morrison, a local news reporter, is assigned to interview a popular, handsome, ex-cop now successful author, Galen Hawke. Instant attraction was obvious between Jamie and Galen. And adults that they are, they had acted on that attraction. A simple interview ended up a one-night stand. Unfortunately, that is all that it was. Until they meet again one year later, Jamie finds out why Galen never returned her calls. I love stories of second chances. Though it has been one year later, both characters realized that their attraction for each other still exists. The romance was definitely believable and relationships such as these are certainly possible. There’s bit of action, a bit of mystery, definitely hot scenes. The only thing I wish there was more of is the background or more world building of the shifter part of the story. Being that it was a short story, I guess some parts of the book will suffer for it. I am hoping Ms. Caridad will take this plot and Vampire Consort (another short) further and make a series out of it.

Jamie Morrison is a reporter that managed to get the story of a lifetime when she managed to get an interview with bestselling author Galen Hawke. What she never expected was the intense attraction between them. After one night together they made plans to get together again. That all changed when Galen was in an accident. Galen Hawke was changed after his accident to the extent he never made his meeting with Jamie. Now she is back. Locked together in his mountain lodge because of a snowstorm they find that their attraction is just as strong as ever. But will Jamie be willing to stay with him after she finds out the changes that have happened to him? Jamie is determined to find out what happened to Galen and see just where their attraction will lead but first she has to make it past the walls Galen has built around himself during the year they have been apart. Only time will tell if they will be able to have a future together or if the accident changed too much. This is a great story that will pull the reader in and have them mourning when they reach the end of the story. This is one story not to miss. While it is a short story it is very much worth the time to read. The characters are very well written and they pull the reader in and will have them hoping that Galen and Jamie will get the happy ever after they so very much deserve.

I was looking for a short, steamy read that could perk me up last week when I was doing college finals. I definitely found it in "Night of the Cougar" by Caridad Pineiro. This book helped me get out of my reading funk thanks to Biology and Math exams. Reporter Jaime Morrison is sent to interview Galen who is a best selling author. She ends up not only getting an interview, but a night of passion from the sexy author. After a year, of not seeing him, she is sent to interview him again. This time though, she's going to be stranded with him due to a snowstorm. She also is going to find out a secret about him and why he is hidden from people nowadays. Galen doesn't want to end up hurting Jaime, so he tries everything to send her away, but for some reason he can't. He's forced to come out with the truth and he may end up losing her My thoughts on the book were of course very steamy, and sexy. It's a very short read, but it quenched my paranormal romance thirst that I was looking for. I had a hard time putting down my Kindle while reading this book, thanks to Caridad and how the story developed between the characters. She also delivered some very sexy, hot, steamy scenes between Galen and Jaime. Oh boy! I think I had to cool myself down with glass of water...or was it a cool shower. =) I loved the character Jaime and how persistent she was with Galen. She never gave up on him, even when he told her his secret. She even put him in his place. (gotta love a female character like her) I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves the paranormal romance genre, loves erotic romance genre, and loves were-cougars. (Oh yes...were-cougars!!) This book will take you on a steamy ride up a mountain with a were-cougar...what more could you ask for? (Now...I want my own personal were-cougar)
