This book has helped me to recognize and appreciate the variety of spiritual temperaments among Christians, including my own. One of the big takeaways for me was that my love and devotion to God is something that I alone can give to Him, and even though the ways in which I draw near to God and love Him through my service will look different from someone else’s, they are all just as precious and important. I really appreciate that with each temperament, he offers valuable suggestions for how that temperament may grow in their worship, as well as various temptations to watch out for. This book strikes a great balance between encouraging me and challenging me to grow.

A rather interesting book. There almost seems to be parallels between the nine types described in here (naturalist, sensate, traditionalist, ascetic, activist, caregiver, enthusiast, contemplative, intellectual) and the Enneagram. The author has obviously done a great deal of observation of how people function, in fact how, differently they make act.

An exploration of how different personality types can find their own connection from God and helps us understand each others methods of worship and prayer.

This book makes an excellent point that we connect with God in different ways. He also points out that some different ways we can all develop closer to God. This is not the book to get all sorts of ideas about the traditional disciplines, but it might give you ideas on how you will connect to God. He does cover some ideas that aren't typically covered in most of the usual texts however. It believe it also gave me a better understanding of why other denominations do what they do, etc. as well.
