A sweet romance if a young veterinarian who's mom to two girls and ex-wife of a notorious criminal and a deputy who doesn't know feisty moms are his type nor how empty his life is until Dani and her girls fill it. He has a big heart and penchant for taming rebellious teens with his kind smile, fairness and honest eyes. She's more than twice shy. This is a fun, family romance, one filled with patience, tradition and wonders of Christmas * ARC provided in exchange for an honest review. I honestly enjoyed this one. It provided the hope and faith in mankind U needed. # Netgalley #season of wonder # raenne thayne #christmas romance

Dani and her two daughters, 13 year old Silver and 6 year old Mia have relocated from Boston with Dani’s graduation from vet school to partner with Dr. Morales and start their new life. Divorced after eight years with a ‘baby mobster wanna-be’, Dani changed her life, her residence and her and her daughter’s names to escape the taint that her now-dead ex-husband’s name would bring – as not long after they arrived in Haven Point, he went down in a ‘blaze of glory’ killing 3 people, one a police officer, during a botched bank robbery that made national news. While Dani has zero to be ashamed about – her marriage was her own immature effort to bring a sense of family back into her life, one that she lost when her mother died when she was a child and thrust into the foster care system. But, Tommy was in and out of prison, with his mother the only person who actually believed, and refused to see sense, where her son was concerned. Working multiple jobs, going to school (and then vet school) taking loans, scrimping and saving – she’s graduated and a correspondence with a visiting lecturer brought her an offer to work in the clinic at Haven Point, with an eye to taking over the practice when the current vet, Dr. Morales retired fully. Dani’s new start comes with a small house, perfect for her and the girls, and a ton of challenges. Having experienced everything being yanked out from under her, repeatedly, as a child, she’s not interested in allowing herself to feel ‘too comfortable’ in this place, always waiting for the next shoe to drop. When you add in her daughter Silver and her being caught vandalizing properties in town, her change in both behavior and attitude, difficulty fitting in and the general ‘teenagerness’ of her behavior – Dani is quickly running out of ideas to bring her daughter back. On the other hand, her bright, chirpy and outgoing younger child Mia is withdrawn, painfully shy with everyone but Dani, and seems to have lost some of her spark. With a neighbor being both a Sherriff and the son of her boss, not to mention insanely attractive and friendly, and just a bit too observant for her liking, nothing could be worse than having Silver returned to home with him, after vandalizing his new boat. EVERYTHING is wrong with this situation: Dani’s shame for her daughter’s behavior and worry that it is the first in a long slide into her felon-father’s footsteps, Mia’s apparent fascination with the man, his obvious careful consideration and ‘sizing up’ of her every reaction, and the unexpected, yet wholly understanding way he approaches Silver’s bad behavior and offers options for her to ‘make things right’, showing both Dani and Silver that mistakes happen, it’s how you learn from them while working to rectify the issues. From the first moment to the last, it’s a struggle for Dani to keep her remove with Reuben, while he’s constantly hoping to get ‘more’ from her: trust, conversation, smiles, and yes, kisses. He’s trying to pull Dani and the girls into the community – you don’t relocate from the big city to a small town to stay apart from everyone and everything – but he also sees that Dani’s reluctance to ‘join’ is rooted in her own insecurities and hurt – and he’s determined to give her every option to share what’s hurt her, in hopes that something new can come from it. With the acceptance from Mia and Silver, his parents and siblings, and a dramatic show-down with Silver at the center, it slowly becomes apparent

Dani Capelli grew up as a foster child in Queens. She fell in love with and married the wrong man and is now trying to make a new life for herself and her daughters in the small town of Haven Point. She tries to distance herself from everyone so that no one learns about their past. They live next door to Deputy Sheriff Ruben Morales and she becomes a little closer to him after some of her daughter's misdeeds. What will happen if he finds out about her past? This is another great holiday novel from RaeAnne Thayne. I always look forward to her books because I love the spirit of the season and the great sense of community. #SeasonOfWonder #NetGalley

Check out the full review at Kritters Ramblings Another book in the Haven Point series and although each book centers around a different character like a lot of romance series do, I still suggest starting at the beginning of this series and letting the books build on themselves. I loved the main characters of this book. Dani Capelli has moved with her two daughters to this small town to work in a veterinary office with the hopes of inheriting it when Dr. Morales decides to retire. At the same time Dr. Morales son, Ruben lives next door and may start invading their lives!

Oh my goodness! This was a wonderful Christmas romance. RaeAnne Thayne does a phenomenal job of pulling the reader in. This story was full of a whole gamut of emotions, from tears, fears and happiness. I love her Haven Point series. Reading about Dani, the new veterinarian, her two daughters and their hunky neighbor Ruben Morales, had me hooked from the first page. Can't wait for the next novel.

"Season of Wonder" is a really sweet (and clean) romance that follows veterinarian Dani and her hot next door neighbor, Deputy Ruben Morales. Dani has moved to Haven Point to take over Dr. Morales's (Ruben's father) veterinary practice and make a new start for herself and her two girls, Silver (13) and Mia (6). She is worried about what everyone will think if they know about her ex-husband/the girls' father who recently died and so she has maintained distance from everyone in town. That distance becomes harder to maintain when Silver is caught spray-painting Ruben's boat (after tagging some other buildings). In recompense, she must fix the damage she has made. In the process, Dani and her two daughters get to know Ruben better, and he begins to fall in love with the whole family. However, Dani is too afraid to let go of her past and trust in a man- even though her daughters are beginning to get attached. Dani must overcome her own fears in order to open herself to new romance. The daughters were really the best part of the book, and I loved every scene with them in it. Ruben is a fantastic main character- so patient, kind, and good with kids. Dani was easy to understand, but I wanted to yell at her a few times for resisting the good man in front of her- especially after the passionate kisses they shared. I was surprised at how much trouble 13-year-olds could get into, but it made for an additional interesting element to the overall story. With the setting of the Christmas season, there was also some lovely messages about generosity, love (not only romantic) and belonging that really gets you into the holiday spirit. Overall, I found this a really enjoyable holiday story, and I really loved it. It was also a really quick read, as I had a hard time putting it down. For fans of (clean- no more than kissing) holiday romance, this is sure to be a hit! Please note that I received a copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Thayne's Haven Point series continues, this time during the holiday season. Dani Capelli has uprooted her two girls to take on what amounts to a vet apprenticeship with the local Haven Point vet who hopes to retire after the year trial with Dani. She is very reserved--her life out East wasn't easy and the underlying worry about the harm her ex husband has done nags at her. Her girls, both Silver and Mia are so well written. Mia, being younger, is happy to try out this new area, while Silver falls in and out of funks like any good teen who didn't want to leave her 'real' home. Neighbor Ruben Morales soon becomes a wonderful influence and the magic of both the holidays and their budding relationship are evident. Another great story by Thayne, I really can't recommend them enough.

A sweet, low angst contemporary holiday romance… Season of Wonder by RaeAnne Thayne is a sweet, low angst, contemporary holiday romance. It is set in the charming, wholesome small town of Haven Point, Idaho at Christmastime and is part of a series. The tale works perfectly well as a standalone read if that is your preference. That is actually the way I read it as both this author and series are new to me. Season of Wonder story features the story of handsome deputy sheriff Ruben Morales and veterinarian intern Daniela “Dani” Capelli. Ruben’s father befriended Dani when he visited her veterinary school. He became her mentor and, when she graduated, he offered her the chance to buy his thriving practice when he retires. Haven Point is the kind of environment that Dani would like her girls to grow up in so she makes the big move from Boston to Idaho. Ruben lives next door to Dani and her brood. As the story opens, Dani is struggling both as a single mother to two girls and as she trains at Ruben’s father’s veterinary practice. She’s also having trouble adapting to her new home. New Haven welcomes her with open arms, but Dani is standoffish as she’s afraid that they will judge her based upon her ex-husband’s record which she keeps a deep, dark secret. Ruben and Dani are strongly attracted to each other – but they fight their chemistry for different reasons… until Dani’s daughter gets in trouble. Ruben comes up with a way for Dani’s daughter to make amends for what she did. He then involves her in a gifting game that his family plays every Christmas season. Ruben’s family plays an integral part in this tale as the perfect example of a patient and loving family. I really liked how Ruben and his family included Dani’s in their holiday traditions despite her prickliness. Sadly, I had trouble relating to Dani at first – the barriers she put up to everyone served to wall her off to me too. For a smart woman, I felt that she wasn’t very smart in the relationships’ department. Thankfully, as the story neared its conclusion, she lowered her barriers and I felt my feelings towards her change also. The ending is nice as Dani and her girls rediscover the magic of the holiday season and open their hearts to love. This is a clean romance. There’s some kissing, but no other hanky panky. Supporting players include some furbabies that will steal your heart! Season of Wonder is a heartwarming, predictable story that will leave you with a happy smile and swaddled in warm fuzzy feels. I enjoy holiday romances year-round. Season of Wonder is just what Santa ordered to put readers in the holiday spirit and to escape from life’s realities for a while. I hope to play catch up with this series in the future!

She's the new veterinarian, and a single mom who's hiding her past from the residents of Haven Point. He's the deputy sheriff, and her neighbor. There is an attraction that she wants to deny. Her past as a foster kid and a disasterous marriage has her not trusting. Her neighbor makes her nervous and she want to spend as little time around him as possible. Ruben Morales is a deputy for the county and has has been interested in Dani since he first saw her. He brings his 2 dogs into see her at the vet clinic. He's alerted to something outside his house by his dogs. He goes to investigate and finds Dani's oldest daughter causing vandalism. He makes a deal with her and takes her home. The adults both know she's lying about being alone. They come up with a plan to fix the neighborhood's vandalism. Ruben, Dani and her daughters go clean it up bringing them to become neighborly. Ruben asks for their help with a family tradition. This brings Ruben and the Capellis closer together and they get invited to a local Holiday Festival and to spend time with the Morales family. Dani feels awful for the hurt she's caused Ruben and realizes that she needs to let go of the past and that what happened wasn't her fault. She goes to Ruben and apologizes and they reveal their feelings. A year later they're married and taking the boat through the boat parade by themselves. RaeAnne Thayne returns to Haven Point to bring together two people who realize that the past doesn't have to affect your future. An emotional story of overcoming your past to have a better life. That you can find love of different types when you find the woman of your dreams. I'm always in the mood to read a RaeAnne Thayne book. Any time you can go to Haven Point please do its worth the trip along with all her other book series.

Every now and again, I am able to learn about new books through their publicists, which is always super awesome. Today's post is about a book by RaeAnne Thayne titled Season of Wonder. When I first learned about Season of Wonder, I didn't realize it was part of a series. I later learned that it was book #9 of the Haven Point series, providing a contemporary holiday romance set in the small town of Haven Point, Idaho. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, and I did feel that this book served as a standalone. Daniela "Dani" Capelli hopes to find a second chance for herself and her two daughters Silver and Mia, when she finishes veterinary school an accepts a veterinarian job in a small Idaho town. She hopes to put the ugliness of Boston and her past there and settle into the small town of Haven Point. Her fear of having her past discovered keeps her distant with the local residents. While Dani loves her new job, 13-year old Silver is having difficulties adjusting to small town life. Coincidentally (or not), Deputy Sheriff Ruben Morales happens to live next-door to Dani and her daughters. Ruben is curious about Dani and while she seems to be very caring as a vet and is loving towards her animal patients and her daughters, she seems to be very standoffish toward him. Ruben goes out of his way to help Dani when Silver has issues, and Dani finds herself falling for Ruben. Despite Dani's attempts at keeping Ruben at bay, he refuses to give up on Dani and includes all of the girls in his own family’s holiday traditions, which results in a life-changing Christmas in Haven Point for them all. The characters in this story are very engaging - so realistic and believable - and the plot is well written. It's clear that Dani hasn't had an easy life and has overcome so much, but she just couldn't leave her past hurts and mistakes in the past. Not only does the author provide readers with a great romance, she manages to provide readers with a very authentic story of a teenager dealing with difficult issues that impact her whole family. I was provided with a complimentary electronic advanced reader copy from Little Bird Publicity through Net Galley in exchange for my post. I was not required to post a positive review, but have chosen to do so because this book was great! Thank you!

I have become a huge RaeAnne Thayne fan and this book just confirms that feeling. This is such a lovely, feel-good book and perfect for getting in the mood for the Christmas season! However, this is not a book just for the holiday season - you can enjoy it anytime of the year. This is part of the Haven Point series but I was never lost reading this as a stand alone book. Dani has moved to Haven Point, Idaho with her two daughters from Boston after attending Veterinary School there. It's a big adjustment especially for her teenage daughter, Silver, who is finding it hard to go from big city living to a small town. Dani's other daughter, Mia, is doing better but it's also a huge change for her. Dani is interning with Dr. Morales and hopes to buy his practice. His son, Rueben Morales, is her next door neighbor and also a Deputy Sheriff. There are definite sparks between the two but Dani is keeping her distance for fear he will find out about her past and he's not really sure he wants to get involved with a woman with children again. I loved the relationship between Dani and her daughters as she navigates the struggles of being a single, working mom and trying to take care of her family. I also loved seeing the relationship between Dani and Rueben blossom after a lot of false starts. This book is a beautiful reminder of learning to love and trust despite difficult things in our past. I really loved this story and these characters! Just a wonderful story that made me feel good. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. *This book was provided to me by Little Bird Publicity. I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.

Season of Wonder RaeAnne Thayne You can always count on RaeAnne Thayne to deliver a heartwarming holiday tale and Season of Wonder is another prime example. Mix charming, flawed characters, small town pleasantries and pettiness, a slow burning romance, adorable dogs and two needy kids and you’ll get a done to perfection Christmas story. Dani trying to juggle being a single mom and her brand new Vet practice plus trying to hide a past she’s ashamed of in a nosey small town makes for an engaging page turning read. But the stand-outs in this seasonal story have to be Dani’s daughters 13 year old Silver, troubled but with a heart of gold and 6 year old Mia who’s simply adorable. Plus the four legged costars and the simmering attraction between Dani and the hunky deputy it’s a win win! So if you’re looking for a sweet and spicy holiday read heavy on the sweet and light on the spicy put Season of Wonder on your wish list. SUMMARY: Dani Capelli fresh out of Vet School needed a fresh new beginning far away from her tragic past and when the Haven Point Idaho town Vet offered her an internship with the possibility of taking over his practice she couldn’t move herself and her two daughters fast enough. But not all is good in paradise, when her troubled teen strikes out by breaking the law she wonders if she should run again. Especially when a gorgeous small town cop that she has no business lusting after offers to help get her daughter back on the right track. Haven Point deputy Ruben Morales always thought he’d be settled by now with 2.5 kids and a sweet agreeable wife. Trouble is his heart keeps pointing him in the direction of the recently transplanted prickly, standoffish new town Vet, the one that comes with two daughters and a past full of secrets. He’s all for breaking the ice but this ice queen has other ideas.

Small-town life at it's best! With another book in the ever-popular Haven Point series by RaeAnne Thayne, we meet a new family that is moving to town and trying to settle in after leaving big city life and problems. The family was quick to grab my attention and the turmoil that starts to flow keeps it. Small town life can be a blessing or a curse depending on how well you want to fit in and how many secrets you are hoping don't come out! An enjoyable addition to the series. When tragedy strikes Dani Capelli's relatively young life yet again, she finds the need to bury her head in the sand and start anew. With her two daughters, this New York native sets out to start over in Haven Point, Idaho with the wonderful position she's been given taking over some of the town veterinarian's duties as he eases into retirement. One rebellious teenager and one clingy six year old make for an interesting mix in this new town. Deputy sheriff Ruben Morales obiously knows the Capelli's because Dani is working with his dad at the clinic, but he's not sure what to make of them yet. She seems to keep herself separate from the town a lot even though she's supposed to be settling in. When her teenage daughter starts getting into trouble, Ruben is the one to step up with a helping hand. There's more to this family than meets the eye, and he's really starting to like them, so he's making it his mission to make sure they see what a great place Haven Point can be ... especially around Christmas!

RaeAnne Thayne takes us back to Haven Point at Christmas time. Dani and her daughters are new in town. She’s the new veterinarian set to take over the ready-to-retire Dr. Morales’ practice. Older daughter Silver isn’t happy in a new place and school but younger daughter Mia loves the town and everyone she meets. When Silver acts out in a big way their neighbor becomes involved with the family. Deputy Ruben Morales (son of Dr. Morales) is someone Dani wants to avoid. If she offends him it could jeopardize her future in Haven Point. The problem is, there’s a growing attraction and it’s not one-way. Ruben has made it a policy not to date women with children. He doesn’t know what to do when he realizes he actually enjoys Dani and her girls. This could go well or very, very wrong for everyone involved. For good reason Dani has had trust issues her entire life. She wants to provide her daughters with a different life. Is that even possible without opening herself to the possibilities that present in Haven Point. She’s about to find out. Season of Wonder is a lovely novel about the good that can come from rising above challenges both big and small.

I found myself reading, turning pages, and finishing chapters while putting off all the rest of the chores that I was supposed to be doing. Maybe it helped that it was a rainy gloomy day but I could not stop reading about Dani and Ruben. Dani’s children were amazing. The attitude of the teenager, the wanting to please of the youngest were so real to how my children were that I could picture myself as a single mom trying to handle the kids, a job, and now a man that I can’t stop thinking about. Ruben…sigh… he was amazing. He won my heart when he didn’t push the girls to talk to him; he talked to them as adults and didn’t expect more from them than what a child can give. He knew that Dani and the girls were a family and if he wanted to be in any of their lives he had to be in all of their lives. He treated Dani with respect but also as a woman, he showed her he was attracted to her, gave her space when she needed it, and accepted what she was able to give. RaeAnne Thayne is an author that I always enjoy and Season of Wonder is no exception. I recommend picking up this easy, light, and fun book. It does not have to be read with the rest of the series as it is definitely a stand-alone book.

This is such a beautiful book, both the cover and the wonderful story inside. I'm a big fan of warm Christmas stories and this one fits the bill. Dani and her two girls have relocated from Boston to Haven Point, Idaho to start a new life. Widowed Dani is working hard as the new local veterinarian and trying to keep the details of her ex-husbands illegal activities private. She has her walls up and is fearful of letting anyone near which is difficult since the next door neighbor is hunky deputy sheriff Ruben Morales. He's taken a shine to Dani and her daughters but she resists her feelings toward him. Ruben catches her 13 yr old daughter vandalizing property and that only serves to bring Ruben closer to Dani's family. Of course it's just a matter of time before these two find their way to each other. Was not a fan of Dani early on but loved Ruben and his giving and caring spirit. This is a feel good story that you'll enjoy reading. It's the 9th entry into the Haven Point series but easily stands alone.

In Seasons of Wonder by RaeAnne Thayne, we return to the wonderful town of Haven Point. Veterinarian Dani Capelli has uprooted her girls and moved to sweet, friendly Haven Point to begin a new life. She longs for the wonder of Christmas and the warmth of family and friends but her past won't allow her to trust again. Deputy Sheriff Ruben Morales feels an instant attraction to Dani and her adorable girls and longs to introduce them to the traditions and magic of his home town.
Dani Capelli has worked long and hard for her education and to overcome a tragic, lonely, sad childhood and marriage to get a chance at a new life in Haven Point. Life has taught her to trust no one and to never let anyone in her and her children's lives.
Ruben Morales has seen the best and worst in people but still believes in love, family, and the goodness of people. He longs to get close to the lovely Dani. He wants to show her daughters the importance of helping others and the glory of the Christmas season.
Dani and Ruben have a powerful attraction to one another and long to be together. Can Ruben's love and strength allow Dani and her daughters to believe in the kindness of Haven Point and the miracle of Christmas?
You will love Seasons of Wonder by RaeAnne Thayne! I am always thrilled to return to Thayne's glorious towns and heartwarming romances. You will love the warmth and beauty of Haven Point and Thayne's complex and moving characters. I cannot wait for another visit to Haven Point!
