Love, love, love this series. All the characters were great as was the story. I couldn't put this book down.

This is the second part of a two-part story, completing the first book. Be warned what the "duet" in the sub-title means. I had really mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand, I felt kind of ripped-off since it seemed to me that the entire story could have been told in one book. I don't like to discuss plot points in reviews (don't like to spoil a story for someone else), but I will say that there were a LOT of words taken up in rehashing all the awful things that had happened to, or been done by, the characters. There is also repetition of plot details that I felt were unnecessary. (How many times do I need to hear a character discuss how it's not the right time or that she's looking for her turtledove? BTW, I did like the turtledove reference, but I didn't need to read it two, three, or more times. Likewise, a little guilt-ridden self-flagellation goes a long way; I don't need to read countless descriptions of how a character doesn't deserve love or forgiveness, etc.) That said, I did enjoy the back-story a lot. There were interesting twists and turns that kept me interested. The romantic aspect of the story was okay, though I thought it was more about the physical aspects of the relationship than "romance". (I'm not a prude, but I'd rather use my own imagination to reading detailed descriptions of (frequent) sexual encounters.) There are aspects of the story that could have been fleshed out a little better as regards secondary characters, but apparently those things are covered in another book. Bottom line, I enjoyed the book, but felt it was overdone in certain aspects.

WOW this series just keeps getting better!! This one is a wild ride, with lots of twists and turns, and it keeps you wondering right up until the end, as to who did what and why. Amazing is all I can say, simply amazing. Mackenzie considers Tyler Burnham, to be the devil himself, he used her, he lied to her, so why could she not quit thinking about him? And Tyler,I could not help but feel sorry for him in this book, but he did this to himself. Even now he is allowing his brother Alexander to pull the strings, and tell him what to do. He cannot forget Mackenzie but he also cannot forgive himself for the things he did to her. Mackenzie tries to move forward with her life, but her past keeps dragging her backwards. Once Tyler decides to quit living the life Alexander wants him to live, he sets out to get Mackenzie to forgive him, if she can. Finally all the puzzle pieces fall into place, and Tyler cannot figure out why they did not see it sooner, now he can only hope that he has time to save Mackenzie before it is too late. T.K. Leigh did a superb job with this series, it will make you laugh, cry, and keep you on the edge of your seat. And just so you know, Alexander Burnham, did finally redeem himself!!

This is the second book in this series and they must be read in order. This book picks up what seems like a couple months after the last one ended. They go back and fill in the details of what happens and refreshes your memory a little about how the last one ended. Mackenzie found out that Tyler had originally approached her to try and get info on her father. She told him that if he wanted to really prove that he loved her he would leave her alone. So he does what she asks and it is the hardest thing he has ever done. He wanted to go after her so badly. His mother advises him to give her the time she has asked for. Then his brother has another mission for him and tells him it is for his safety and Mackenzie’s as well. Tyler only agrees after he is sure Mackenzie will be looked after and kept safe. Mackenzie can’t seem to get over Tyler and tries to go and talk to him. That is when everything beings to spiral out of control. She can’t get him by phone or text. There is someone else living in his house and driving his cars. She is beginning to wonder if Tyler was even real or if she made him up in her head. Her friends assure her that Tyler was real and then she gets a surprise that cements that Tyler was real for her. She finally emails him when she can’t take it anymore. That email is what brings Tyler back. He doesn’t care what anyone says anymore he needs to get back and make things right with Mackenzie. This book was great. The story and characters are fantastic. This series pulled me in and I didn’t want to put it down till I was finished. Mackenzie and Tyler have been through so much together and separately and they deserve to finally get their happily ever after together. I was completely surprised by who was behind setting up her father and causing all this mess. The mystery was a big draw for me. I also loved reading about Mackenzie and Tyler love story. I look forward to reading T.K. Leigh’s other books. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. MacKenzie left Tyler heartbroken and alone in Boston after learning the he only got close to her in order to find out information about her father. When she got back to South Padre, Texas, she felt as if everything she believed was a lie. Meanwhile, Tyler followed his brothers instructions and went overseas for a Humanitarian mission. This was such an amazing conclusion to Chasing the Dragon that I hated for it to end. Leigh does such a wonderful job at pulling the reader in to her books that it's impossible to put it down. As an avid reader of her books, its difficult to put into words how this book made me feel. From the roller coaster ride that she took me on in the beginning to the heart stopping conclusion, she grips your attention and keeps it.

Words practically escape me... Slaying the Dragon is raw, edgy, unpredictable, and deliciously sexy! It is skillfully written with an excellent story-line and characters that aren't just characters, but are real people; people with real feelings, real struggles, and real strengths. People you can't help but care for. From the cover to the very last page, T.K. Leigh has written a story that is captivating, intriguing, addictive, sexy, intense, gritty, thought provoking... a beautiful, overwhelmingly, emotional story of love and healing, second chances, moving on, family, and ultimately, love. It is a story that once you start reading, you won't want to put it down and it will stay with you for days after reading it. Slaying the Dragon has every possible thing you want in a book... angst, drama, secrets, lies, action, suspense, turmoil, deceit, corruption, deception, cruelty, mystery, murder, revenge, fear, guilt, sadness, heartbreak, regret, forgiveness, pure unadulterated lust, scorching long love scenes, swoon worthy moments, and so many twists and turns thrown in, you will be hanging on the edge of your seat till the very end. *I was lucky enough to receive this book as an ARC for an honest review.

WOW!! This book was an epic conclusion to Deception Duet! Chasing the Dragon leaves off with a hella cliffie!! I really thought I would die from anticipation!! No really! I was dying! The wait was worth it! Slaying the Dragon starts off with a bang & doesn't slow down the entire book! I say for every TK book, "OMG it's soooo awesome & my fav"! Well....because they ARE!! McKenzie is soooo strong! This woman & endured more in her short life that 20 people never have to endure combined! I applaud TK for creating such an strong, amazing character! Tyler is omg! Alpha hotness!! He's a different character than in Chasing the Dragon because we all know what LOVE will do to you! I just adored those two! The book is action packed & full of suspense! I was TOTALLY shocked & flabbergasted by the turn of events! I never ever saw that coming! Amazing job! I can't wait for MORE from TK Leigh!

4 Stars. This book was a mazes, it took you through all sorts of twists and turns. You should always follow your gut, or should you……. Tyler isn’t your typical alpha male, sure he’s wealthy, tall and well-built but he wears his heart on his sleeve and carries his guilt in a way that tugs at your heart strings. He woven a web of lies and caused a path of destruction. He has come to a crossroad and now must choose a path; will he right his wrongs or give it all up? Mackenzie, how can one person have such horrible luck? It’s just one thing after another for someone who seems to have it all together and every minuet planed to a tee, she sure knows how to throw you a curveball. Finally settled into what has become her normal, Tyler shows up and derails her from the get-go leaving her to wonder if she will ever truly be free.

This is the second book and continues where book 1 left off... thankfully! Mackenzie and Tyler have gone their separate ways for now as Mackenzie tries to deal with the deception. Tyler is acting on his usual M.O. and has run away from the situation, whilst still telling himself that he's doing the right thing. This book was simply amazing and it makes me wonder if it was written at the same time as book 1, because there just simply aren't any gaps. Nothing is missing, it is completely seamless between books 1 and 2. I loved how totally human Tyler and Mackenzie are. They make mistakes, they make wrong choices but, at the end of the day, they move forward. With enough twists and turns to make you dizzy, this book will take you up high and bring you down low. I will say that my eyes kept leaking for at least the last quarter of the book. Just as I thought I was okay, something else would happen and it would start up again. One thing I will add (which I'm bound to get slaughtered over) is that whilst I stated in my review for book 1 that I haven't read any of the Beautiful Mess series, and still haven't, I can say that my opinion of Alex from these books isn't such a good one! I know that he has made quite a few knees knock together but all I want to do is bop him one! Very authoritarian and know it all - that whole gaslight mind "freak", so not cool. Still, I guess that for a character to get me riled up means that he was well written. In fact, this book is incredibly well written, with a tense and intriguing plotline that will have your pulse racing and your heart pumping. Highly Recommended!!! * I received this book from Give Me Books in return for a fair and honest review.* Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
