Overview

Do you enjoy latest updates on Astronomy and Space Science? This book is easy to read and to understand with magnificent photos from NASA, plus illustrations from Amateur Astronomers. Astrid Z Ohlmeier is a researcher in Astronomy and gathers a wide range of information from professional Astronomers, University lecturers and Professors. Dr Elme Breedt, University of Warwick explained Gaia is an ambitious mission to chart a three-dimensional map of our Galaxy, the Milky Way, in the process revealing the composition, formation and evolution of the Galaxy. Dr Paul Able revealed news about planet Uranus and Dr Amelie Saintonge (UCL) Astrophysics: Galaxy formation is hypothesized to occur, from structure formation theories, as a result of tiny quantum fluctuations in the aftermath of the Big Bang. The simplest model for this that is in general agreement with observed phenomena is the Cold Dark Matter cosmology; that is to say that clustering and merging is how galaxies gain in mass, and can also determine their shape and structure. We study the evolution of atomic and molecular gas in galaxies in semi-analytic models of galaxy formation that include new theories of the partitioning of cold gas in galactic discs into atomic, molecular, and ionised phases. Dr Amelie Saintonge would like to know how much star formation happens in a galaxy like the Milkyway. We can see star formation in the Orion Nebula and supernovae explosions will cause more star formation in the near future.Astronomers observed 23 supernova explosions during the last 3 years. Roger Pickard, Director of the Variable Star Section (British Astronomical Association) explained about eclipsing binaries and dwarf novae, CCD observing and programmes by professional and amateur astronomers. DSLR cameras are very useful for astrophotography. VY Canis Majoris is a red hypergiant star located in the constellation Canis Major. At between 1800 and 2100 solar radii (2,505,600,000 to 2,923,200,000 km across or 1,556,534,837 to 1,816,267,995 miles), it is the largest known star and also one of the most luminous known. It is located about 1.5 kilo parsecs (4.6×1016 km) or about 4,900 light years away from Earth. Unlike most hyper-giant stars, which occur in either binary or multiple star systems, VY Canis Majoris is a single star. It is categorized as a semi regular variable and has an estimated period of 2000 days.
