Overview

I am so pleased that you have picked this book to help you on your exciting Bakery journey. Running a business is a mix of emotions, highs and lows, hard work, commitment, its draining and intense, but it is also the most exciting, freeing, liberating and exhilarating activity and adventure you can ever embark on.

Working for yourself, being your own boss, it doesn't get any better than that. This book (and others in the series) have been written to accompany you on your journey and contain solid, tried and tested ideas, methods, activities and tasks, that you can follow right away to make your business a success.

Starting a business from home might sound easy but if you want a real, successful and professional business, you have to approach in the same manner as you would any other professional and credible business. It may start at home, but you can take your business to any level you choose. Setting the foundations correctly at the beginning will allow you to grow faster and reach any goal you set for yourself and for your business.

We present examples that we have used in our own business, Mr Buns Bakery, to illustrate methods that work. Methods that get your business started the right way, in order to get you customers and make you money. We show you how to manage your business and how to keep on marketing so that you can grow and grow.

But why take my word for it? Well Mr Buns Bakery was started from nothing. We started from our home kitchen with £1000 in the bank and used this money to grow and grow until after 5 years of trading we had sold over £1,000,000 (yes one million!) of cake and grown our Facebook page to over 10,000 likes! We had opened bakery units, shops and everything in between. In one month alone we sold 30,000 cupcakes from one shop and with only a small team. My favourite achievement is that if you stack every cake made during this 5 year period on top of each other it would reach into space. Thats over 62 miles! I am not saying this to impress you (well maybe just a little bit), but I am saying this to impress upon you, that by following this book you can do this too.

Now please do not think these will be quick, get rich quick style methods. This book is real. This book is based on our real business. You need to commit to hard work, requiring you to be consistent, dedicated and proactive for it to work. If you can commit to this (which I know you can) and the methods in this book, then you will see positive results and you will see your business grow and grow.

I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope you achieve everything you want in life. Go out there and give it everything you've got to make your business a success! Success is waiting for you, take it, its yours!

Thank you so much for purchasing my book and for taking the time to read it. Remember, it only takes one idea to change your world. Which one will it be for you?

About the Author

I have always had a passion for both business and the creative side of food. Even as a young boy my Mum, a very talented and enthusiastic home baker, would give me the trimmings from the pastry to create little models. Snowmen at Christmas, Bunnies at Easter, I was always encouraged to get my hands in the flour and be creative. My Mum made all our Birthday cakes as children and she would spend hours with a hat pin patiently drawing the picture in the icing with cochineal and other food colourings. I’ll always remember my Dogtanian cake and how amazed I was that my Mum made him just for me! I often think of this feeling when I create the birthday cakes for my customers and hope they experience this too.

Each day I would arrive home from school to find my Mum had baked a delicious plate of cakes or pastries and I can tell you that they did not last long! It is no surprise that I am now a professional pastry chef specialising in Celebration and Wedding Cakes following such a creative influence.

At 17 I joined the Royal Navy where I received my professional chefs training that was second to none. Passing this intense training and coming top of my class was one of the proudest moments of my life. When I picture the pride in my Dads eyes during my passing out parade ceremony it is very emotional even now, 20 years later! When I left the Royal Navy at 22 years of age I fell in love with my beautiful wife Rachael and we have been living life to the fullest ever since. I have been very lucky to follow all my dreams and I was able to get some adventures out of my system before we decided to grow up and raise a family of our own. To say I changed when we added two gorgeous children to our family, is an understatement. This was my cue to get serious and I decided that working for myself was the way forward.

I drew on my previous work in sales, marketing and training and used my knowledge gained at university studying psychology, to create a business that would provide my family with the happy, healthy and wealthy life they deserve. I combined all my skills as a professional chef, salesperson, trainer and artist with my business knowledge, to build Mr Buns from scratch.

The Mr Buns journey has been awesome, but it has not been a smooth one. We have had moments of huge success and devastating failures. Highs and lows. Good times and bad. We were self funded with no safety net. No rich family who could bail us out if things didn't
