Across the globe, in East Central Minnesota, Swede Larsen rescues a family of stranded travelers in the initial stages of a crippling Minnesota winter storm. Larsen insists his new guests return to his home with him and there, ride out the storm. Archibald Baker, Sarah and their son Peter, reluctantly agree.
