The Getaway Girls: A New Orleans Tale of Monsters, Mayhem and Moms based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
Attention all you Moms out there planning the long awaited and highly prized WEEKEND GETAWAY WITH THE GIRLS! It’s a dog eat dog world out there, or should I say a monster eat human world? Four longtime friends make their great escape to enjoy a weekend of laughter, fun and friendship in the Big Easy, but this excitement may even be over the top for New Orleans! Instead of perusing the great menus and delights of the city, they find they are the specialty of the night. How to escape from the clutches of these carnivores? Wit, humor, brains and probably that special “MomThing” might work, but only the help of a rather unusual Irish actor and a strange agreement with another group from the shadows of night, vampires. And you thought only Marde Gras brought out the strange ones. The Getaway Girls: A New Orleans Tale of Monsters, Mayhem and Moms by Deirdre H. Gage lives up to its title and them some as the denizens of the night come out to play and wreak havoc. Our girls are quick, snarky and brave as only a Mom can be, and just maybe one of them will find a little romance, face it, love makes strange bedfellows, you know? Deirdre Gage had me laughing, even when things got dark and dangerous; she has developed her world so well and so "uniquely". Her characters make this tale, with tongue-in-dialogue, completely believable girltalk and that desire to “pretend” to live life on the edge, even if it is only for a couple of days. Take this one to the beach, the coffee shop, anywhere no one will look at you funny for laughing out loud!
