I'm such a fan of the other books in this series that when I heard L.M. Fry was writing a prequel, I was really excited. The new book finally came out last week, and I devoured it. I'm happy to report that it is a nice addition to the Aether world. Nessie is the main character in the book. You may remember her as the salty air captain from the main Aether books. She was such an endearing character that it's fun to see her get some prime treatment here. The story centers around an event from her childhood that led her to her love of flying airships. It explains a lot about why she is the way she is and provides some nice backstory on some of the other members of the Stein family. I enjoyed the fast pace of this book a lot! It's shorter than the other Aether books, and that really forces the action to the fore. The pacing is fast but not rushed, if that makes sense. It was so much fun to go along on the ride, and I really hope that we see more of Nessie in further installments of the series. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a fun, easy-to-read ride!
