This is a great example of how a good story can be dragged down to mediocre because of its lame fundamentals. The story has a great pull of the reader in its first pages and through out the journey of our protagonist, we see their complex thinking and might to maximize their gain over loss. However there are several things that drag this story down. For example the incident with Being X felt very underwhelming, X was built up as an all powerful organism but lacks any real seance of why X does what they do and how underwhelming Being X's power actually was. Then there are many instances that the text repeats information constantly, dulling some of the awesome action sequences within it. Being reminded of not very important information one page ago several times over does not flow well. Its a great well thought out story and I want to like it more than I do but many flaws exist in the text and I doubt I will look for the next volume.
A very good book, the author was very knowledgable about war and economics. The art style is also really good, but the best thing about this series is the villain. The villain is so well-made that she makes most others pale in comparison, a must read for people who like villain protagonists and war!
