Trying to Remember,Forced to Forget (My Father's Suicide) based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
My father committed suicide, and I have been looking for a book that would help me deal with it. Seeing the title of this book, I figured it to be pretty fitting. I figured that I would be able to really relate to it however the book is not about what the title proclaims. The majority of the book deals with Judy's mother and her mother's life, Judy's troubled pregnancies, and the school life of her daughters, the many different jobs Judy had and her responsibilities in each. Not until almost the end of the book does she really get into the subject of her father's suicide--what the book is supposed to be about. As insensitive as it may sound, I don't really care about all her other issues. The reason I picked up the book was because there are numerous books on the suicides of a mother, child, spouse, sibling, and no one seems to write about a father's suicide and how they dealt with it, which I expected to find in this book. I am very disappointed to say that Judy did not spend too much time on the issue which her book was supposed to be about.
